The Role of Specialist Physician

The work is carried out in specialized teams where you, based on your competence, collaborate with engaged colleagues from various professions. At our Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Clinic, we work within several pediatric fields, including endocrinology, gastroenterology, allergology, neurology, and infectious diseases. Specialist care in Region Jönköping also has primary care responsibility for children under 1 year of age. We have a well-established collaboration with actors around the child, such as the children's clinic, child health services, and social services.

Supervision and knowledge transfer to younger colleagues are a natural part of the work. We have educational responsibility for Specialty Training (ST) doctors in fields including pediatrics and general practice. Our operations are also a training site for medical students during their practice-based education during the pediatric course.

You will work daytime hours, Monday to Friday, within pediatric outpatient care at the Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Clinic in Jönköping. The position also includes on-call duties as primary on-call at the children's clinic at Ryhov County Hospital – one Saturday or Sunday and one weekday evening every fourth week.

The position is a permanent full-time employment with start date as agreed.

The Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Clinic is a well-established pediatric specialist operation with a clear mandate in outpatient care for children and young people. We are located in Jönköping, Eksjö, and Värnamo, and the unit also includes Child and Adolescent Health – three clinics that meet children with mental health issues at the primary level and first-line level.

Our clinics are characterized by good cooperation, high competence, and a positive work environment. In Jönköping, the team consists of approximately 25 dedicated employees – pediatricians, pediatric nurses, and healthcare administrators. Together at the unit, we are over 120 employees, including approximately 25 specialist physicians, 5 own Specialty Training (ST) doctors, and 25 specialist nurses, all contributing to a secure and well-functioning operation. The collegium is very well-functioning and stable with close and good cooperation with colleagues across the county; the medical group has regular opportunities for competence development.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with specialist competence in pediatric and adolescent medicine. You can be a senior consultant, specialist physician, or at the end of your Specialty Training (ST) in pediatrics. Most importantly, you have a burning interest and your heart beats for pediatric work.
