About Brogymnasiet

The high school in Kristinehamn is organized at Brogymnasiet, offering programs EE, EK, FT, IN, NA, SA, TA, TE, VO IM, as well as Adapted High School. The school currently has 600 students and 80 employees. The school has a well-developed student health organization with special education teachers, counselors, school nurses, study and career counselors, as well as continuous collaboration with school psychologists and school doctors.

Our goal is for the school's students to receive a pleasant and personal reception and always meet professional and competent teachers to achieve the best possible results. The school's development work to increase and improve student goal fulfillment has yielded good results. Our methods for high goal fulfillment include differentiated instruction, language-developing approaches, collegial learning, and early interventions for students in need of support.

Job Responsibilities

As a counselor at Brogymnasiet, you are an important part of our fantastic student health team, contributing psychosocial competence in promoting, preventive, and remedial work. You are expected to be able to work both strategically and operationally in the promoting and preventive work at the school, supervise teachers, and support students in their development. You work individually and at the group level with value-based issues, strengthening motivation, and contributing to students' development and goal fulfillment.

Your individual assignments mainly take place at the school's national programs, but you and the school's other counselor work together on the school's overall values.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker or have an equivalent degree. You have experience working with young adults and have a B-driver's license.

We consider it an advantage if you have education and experience with CBT- and MI-based methods.

To thrive with us, you are a person who feels secure in meeting young people in different life situations. You have a good ability to create trusting relationships and are supportive, motivating, and solution-focused in your approach.

At Brogymnasiet, you become part of an engaged and pleasant collegium where collaboration and the students' best interests are always at the center. You get the opportunity to work long-term and structured with student health, in close cooperation with school management and other professions within EHT (Student Health).

What we look for in your application

• build relationships with students and colleagues, and create good contacts with guardians and other authorities
• carry out interventions such as supportive conversations and motivational work based on evidence-based methods
• work preventively and remedially with problematic school absenteeism
• supervise and support mentors and teachers in the student health-promoting work.
