Workplace Description

S:t Eriks Gymnasium and Polhem's Adapted Upper Secondary School are two municipal schools sharing a building in the heart of Kungsholmen in central Stockholm.

Here, there is an exciting mix of university-preparatory programs and vocational programs where creativity and knowledge are at the center. The school offers a diversity of educations, activities, nationalities, and languages, making it a fun and stimulating workplace for both students and staff.

We prepare students for careers in automation, electrical engineering, and communications, fine carpentry, floristry, hairdressing, design, and sewing. We prepare for university through the arts program's visual arts and design, animation, film and directing, music, event technology, musicals and theater, the natural sciences program, and the social sciences program's media, information, and communication as well as social studies. We also offer adult education and the National Upper Secondary School for People with Physical Disabilities (RGRH).

The school library is a pedagogical resource for teaching and schoolwork. Collaboration between teachers and the school librarian contributes to students having better prerequisites for learning.

Job Description

As a school librarian, your task is to continue building our library into a well-integrated part of the operations that supports learning and students' achievement of goals.

Currently, there are two librarians, and we are now looking for a substitute for one of the positions for the upcoming school year 2026/2027.

You need to be a secure and stable person who dares to set demands and ensure the work at the library. You are a natural part of the school's pedagogical work and our focus on sustainable development and sustainable learning. The school library should be usable by students and teachers as a resource in teaching and contribute to reading and writing development. Therefore, you will collaborate with teachers regarding planning for potential author visits, class visits, guidance, and instruction in information searching and source criticism (MIK) in regular teaching.

You will also be expected to initiate projects related to the school library's operations and actively follow developments in the field through continuous environmental scanning.

You will be responsible for continuing to build routines regarding the management of the school's teaching materials concerning ordering, lending, and return, which will be handled by the library.

Continuous review and inventory of the library need to be conducted to ensure that the literature supports the school's program offerings and is adapted to the students at the school.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Library and Information Science, or education that the employer finds equivalent.
  • Experience in pedagogical work.
  • Experience working in a school library, preferably at the upper secondary level.
  • Experience working in an adapted upper secondary school.
  • Knowledge of the library's computer systems.
  • Experience with purchasing in Agresso.
  • Good ICT skills.
  • A strong interest in developing the operations, including the flexibility, endurance, and creativity this entails.
  • Flexible, structured, outgoing, and self-initiating.
  • Initiative-taking and clear commitment to working with young people, as well as being objective and pedagogical.
  • Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing, as well as good collaboration and organizational skills.

Meritorious:

  • Pedagogical education.
  • Experience in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of young adult literature and contemporary media.
  • Knowledge of reading processes and methods for how literature can be used in teaching.

The position may be filled due to surplus staff in the City of Stockholm.
