The Left Party in Gävleborg is looking for a full-time Political Secretary. We are looking for you who want to help develop the Left Party's policy and contribute to our political work in the Region of Gävleborg. As a Political Secretary, you will work closely with our Regional Councilor and the Left Party's regional group. You will become an important part of our team and have the opportunity to contribute to well-founded political decisions and the development of the Left Party's policy in the Region of Gävleborg.

About the role:

As a Political Secretary, you support the Left Party's elected officials in their political work. You prepare decision materials, analyses, and proposals for political decisions and contribute to work on issues such as the regional budget, regional plan, and other strategic matters.

You are also responsible for environmental scanning and communication, and contribute to developing and anchoring the Left Party's policy. The work is varied and involves switching between long-term development work and current political issues.

In this role, you will have many contacts with civil servants and political representatives from various parties. You contribute to professional collaboration and good conditions for dialogue, negotiations, and joint solutions.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a strong civic engagement and an interest in regional politics.
• Has good analytical skills and enjoys diving into complex issues.
• Is a skilled writer and expresses yourself well in speech and writing.
• Works in a structured manner, takes initiative, and has good ability to plan and prioritize.
• Thrives in collaboration, builds good relationships, and works equally well independently and in teams.
• Enjoys varied work where the pace is sometimes high.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience working within the Left Party or another political organization.
• Experience from a politically governed organization or public administration.
• Relevant education in fields such as political science, journalism, communication, or economics.
• Experience with budget work, economic analysis, or operational management.
• Experience in communication work, opinion building, or press work.
• Knowledge of public finance as well as municipal or regional governance.
• Experience in negotiations.
• Experience working professionally with social media.

About the position:

The position is an appointment as a Political Secretary according to the Local Government Act and grants the right to leave of absence from other duties. The Region of Gävleborg is the formal employer, while leadership is conducted through the Left Party.

• Scope: Full-time (100%)
• Start date: January 1, 2027, or as agreed.
• Employment: Fixed-term until December 31, 2030, with the possibility of extension.

Target-oriented working hours apply. Evening and weekend work, as well as travel within the county, occur.
