The Neurosurgery and Pain Rehabilitation area in Lund is one of seven neurosurgical operations in Sweden. We offer highly specialized care in the Southern Healthcare Region to patients of all ages with injuries and diseases in the central nervous system. The operation consists of a surgical department, neuro-intensive care unit (NIVA), outpatient clinic, inpatient ward, and day care. Currently, the operation employs just over 250 staff members. Research projects are conducted within the area, where surgical staff are involved; for example, we have started operating patients in MRI scanners and have a scrub nurse conducting research.

The surgical department is equipped with high technology, including navigation systems, microscopes, and ultrasound equipment. We perform both short and longer procedures. Approximately 30 staff members work at the Neurosurgery Department of Surgery, collaborating closely in interdisciplinary teams consisting of scrub nurses, assistant nurses, radiographer, biomedical engineers, operations staff, and medical secretaries. Furthermore, we collaborate closely with anesthesia personnel at the unit. The majority of the staff have many years of experience in neurosurgical care, and we highly value care quality, security, safety, and hygiene.

Job Responsibilities

As an assistant nurse (undersköterska), you are part of the team around the patient's care in connection with surgery and have a significant role in the collaboration with colleagues in the surgical team. You work with common tasks for assistant nurses in the surgical department, primarily by being helpful and assisting the scrub nurse and surgeon during operations.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are trained as an assistant nurse and meet the National Board of Health and Welfare's requirements for a protected professional title, regardless of whether you studied under the previous or current program structure. Good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are required.

We would like you to have previous work experience as an assistant nurse. Experience of working in a surgical environment and with surgeries is desirable. If you have education as a specialist assistant nurse with a focus on anesthesia, surgery, or intensive care, this is also valuable for the position.

To succeed in the role as an assistant nurse with us, it is required that you are stress-resistant and maintain your calm even in pressured situations. Since tasks can vary, and one day is not like the other, it is also important that you are flexible and take great responsibility in your role. Furthermore, you are good at communicating and contribute to a pleasant work climate in the work group. As we are very keen on finding a person who fits well into our surgical team, we place great emphasis on personal suitability.
