About Us

We welcome a new colleague to our specialized care unit for patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases. Ward 131 offers you a workplace where you can thrive and develop professionally. Here, patients are investigated, treated, and prepared for examinations, surgeries, and treatments such as dialysis. We handle acute issues for patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD) when the PD clinic is closed, which also means we serve as a resource for other wards at Sahlgrenska when they care for patients undergoing PD treatment.

What do we offer you?

Working as an assistant nurse with us is varied and stimulating, offering you the opportunity to learn more about kidney function and its interaction with other organs, and how kidney function is affected by disease states or external factors. What characterizes our ward is a pleasant atmosphere and a good collaborative climate. You will receive a structured introduction together with a supervisor, tailored to your previous experience. During your first six months on the ward, you will be trained in peritoneal dialysis.

You have great opportunities to develop as an assistant nurse through planned time for education and training, and by participating in improvement projects and areas of responsibility relevant to the ward. We offer individual schedule planning, giving you the opportunity to influence your working hours. The vacancy is for full-time work, but the extent of employment can be discussed.

Responsibilities

As an assistant nurse, you assess the patient's care needs based on science and proven experience. You work in a team together with nurses and other professional categories, responsible for basic care and patient monitoring in dialogue with the nurse. In consultation with the nurse, you perform sample collections, dressing changes, and assistance during peritoneal dialysis in accordance with the routines and checklists established for the ward. You support and encourage the patient's ability for self-care and mobilization. The responsibilities also include checking and preparing the ward's care-related rooms, patient rooms, and equipment. After PD training, you assist PD patients both on the ward and on other wards within Sahlgrenska.

About You

• We are looking for you who are an assistant nurse with a focus on emergency care/hospital care.
• We would prefer that you have experience working as an assistant nurse in a hospital.
• Experience working with peritoneal dialysis is meritorious, but not a requirement.
• You strive to provide patients with the best possible care and treatment, take responsibility for your tasks, and communicate and collaborate well with others.
• You are self-assured, can see solutions, and work in a controlled manner when the work situation changes.
