The Communications Department at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) is looking for a Communications Specialist for a permanent position based in Uppsala.

About the Job

As a Communications Specialist, you will work broadly with both strategic and operational communication. The role has a special focus on internal communication, but you will work across several of the university's communication channels and with both internal and external audiences.

You will be part of a team working closely with the university management and operations, providing advice, communication planning, and implementation. The role involves being a proactive communications support to managers and leaders, contributing to developing their ability to communicate clearly, engagingly, and in close connection with the operations.

An important part of the assignment is to provide communicative support to SLU's activities within environmental analysis and contribute to making the results of this socially vital activity visible. You will also contribute to the development of the university's internal communication and work with editorial content for both internal and external channels.

The duties include, among other things:

• strategic and operational communications support to management and operations, with a special focus on ongoing environmental analysis
• communications support to managers and leaders in their communication
• planning, implementation, and follow-up of communication initiatives
• development of internal communication
• editorial work for internal and external channels
• press and media work
• web publishing and content production

You are responsible for your own processes, assignments, and development areas, driving your work independently in close collaboration with colleagues and operations.

Your Background

• We are looking for you who have a university or college education in communications or other education or experience that the employer considers equivalent. You have several years of experience in qualified communication work.

We would like you to have experience with:

• providing communicative support to managers or leadership personnel
• both internal and external communication
• planning, implementing, and following up on communication initiatives based on operational goals
• press and media work
• web publishing and digital channels
• driving communication processes from idea to implementation and follow-up
• effect-based communication work
• working in a larger organization, government agency, municipality, or region
• communication within research, environmental, or sustainability fields
• supporting operations with complex societal missions

SLU is a bilingual university. Therefore, you must be able to communicate fluently in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

To succeed in the role, you need to be strategic, structured, and flexible. You have an easy time building trusting relationships and collaborate well with people at different levels in the organization.

You thrive switching between strategic reasoning and practical implementation, and find both advisory and production tasks stimulating. You are proactive, unpretentious, and have the ability to drive issues forward while being responsive to the needs of the operations.

We are looking for you who have an interest in environmental and sustainability issues and are motivated by communicating knowledge that contributes to the sustainable use of our natural resources.

About Us

The Communications Department has the strategic and overall responsibility for the university's internal and external communication. The department is responsible for university-wide communication and the marketing of SLU's education, research, environmental analysis, and veterinary care. We manage and develop the university's digital presence and communication infrastructure, are responsible for visual communication and the SLU brand, handle media contacts, and offer the organization support in communication matters.

The position is located at the Communications Department in Uppsala. Travel for work purposes occurs.
