Department of Geriatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine and Pain Centre
We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community with your colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
The Department of Geriatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine and Pain Centre is characterized by well-functioning interprofessional teams, which we are very proud of. Our department has a broad mandate where it is meaningful, exciting, and developmental to work. There are good opportunities to participate in development work and research; in our work, we translate new knowledge into care.
We want you to feel welcome here. As a new employee, you are offered supervision, an introduction program, and professional networks. We are experts in rehabilitation but always strive to become even better. As part of this, there is a strong focus on research and progress, both within and outside the hospital, where you as an employee are an important part of this.
Within the section for Health Professions, we are nine wards with staff covering the entire hospital within somatic adult care. We are now looking for a new colleague to the ward Health Professions Orthopedics & Hand Surgery. Here, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and counselors work within orthopedics and hand surgery. Our ward is characterized by a good community, high competence, and great engagement. We have several development projects underway, and we would be happy to see you grow in your role with us.
Your Role
We are now looking for an Occupational Therapist at 100%. The position involves clinical work on one of two orthopedic wards, 70 B, which largely handles planned care. There, you will be part of a large group of skilled and generous colleagues working within different orthopedic areas. You will have close collaboration with physiotherapists as well as with the occupational therapist on our other orthopedic ward, 70 A.
Together with the team on 70 B, you assess the patient's activity and functional capacity and gather information about the patient's living situation. You assess the need for assistive devices prior to discharge from the ward, such as wheelchair fittings and hygiene aids, and have contact with the region and municipality for handover reporting.
You are part of a staffing group with several occupational therapists who support each other during absences and jointly handle referrals. The role may include covering all parts of our operations within the Health Professions Orthopedics & Hand Surgery ward, as well as supervising students.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed occupational therapist. We consider it meritorious if you have clinical experience working on a care ward, but even if you are new to your role, you are warmly welcome to apply.
Your Competence
Great importance is attached to personal suitability, good teamwork and organizational skills, ability to prioritize and work independently and patient-centered. As a person, you are flexible, structured, and solution-oriented, and enjoy working both independently and in a team, contributing your knowledge and competence.
In the work, you should be able to prioritize and manage your working time as care periods are usually short, and you schedule your time according to the patients' needs, which can vary from day to day.
We Offer
We offer a permanent position at 100% with start date as agreed. As an occupational therapist with us, you are part of professional networks at the hospital and have opportunities for further development both internally and externally. Probation may be applied.
With us, you get benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).
