The Neurosurgical Clinic in Linköping is one of the units within the Sense Center in Östergötland. The catchment area is the South-Eastern Healthcare Region with just over one million inhabitants. The activity is conducted as inpatient and outpatient care. We treat patients with tumors, hemorrhages, vascular malformations, trauma, back diseases, hydrocephalus, various pain conditions, movement disorders, epilepsy, and other diseases of the central nervous system.

Job Description

The Neurosurgical Clinic at Linköping University Hospital offers a position for specialist training in neurosurgery. Evening and night on-call duties, as well as teaching medical students and other healthcare personnel, are included in the job responsibilities.

The training is goal-oriented and aims to lead to specialist competence in neurosurgery in accordance with the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations on physicians' specialist training, as well as recommendations from the Swedish Neurosurgical Society, in consultation between the ST-physician, supervisor, ST study director, and head of department. The ST-physician participates in on-call work, and opportunities for research are available.

Work Group

The Neurosurgical Clinic consists of a care ward; Ward 71 including the postoperative ward and NIMA (intermediate care unit), and an intensive care unit; NIVA, and has approximately 200 employees. As an ST-physician, you will work in all included units as well as in the operating room.

About You

You are a licensed physician. Previous clinical experience in neurosurgery is required. You should have a broad interest in neurosurgery, including neuro-intensive care. Experience and interest in research and teaching are meritorious.

As you work in constant dialogue with patients, relatives, colleagues, and other units, it is a requirement that you have very good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

Great importance is attached to your personal qualities. As a person, you are collaborative and should have the ability and interest in multidisciplinary team work. You work and communicate well under stress. You are flexible, show personal maturity, and are judicious.
