Mora is a city close to nature and mountains, inviting outdoor activities and an active leisure time year-round. Mora Hospital is one of Region Dalarna's two emergency hospitals. The catchment area has approximately 80,000 inhabitants, but outdoor facilities in Sälen and Idre, as well as major sporting events both summer and winter, bring large numbers of tourists. Mora Hospital offers the comfort of a small hospital while also serving as a trauma center. The Operation, Anesthesia, and ICU department consists of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Central Operating Room (C-op), Day Surgery (DKM), Anesthesia Clinic, and Sterile Technology. Approximately 1,500 patients are cared for in the ICU per year, of which about 500 are ICU patients. A total of approximately 4,500-5,000 surgeries are performed annually at C-op and DKM, primarily surgery and orthopedics, but also some urology and maxillofacial/dental care. Sterile Technology handles supplies from the operating departments, ward departments, and clinics at the hospital, as well as from all primary care centers in Region Dalarna.

Day Surgery Mora (DKM) is a modern operating department with bright and fresh premises, located on the sixth floor with a beautiful view over Mora. We have a work climate characterized by positivity, joy in work, and a strive to give our patients the best possible experience during their visit with us. As a nursing assistant, you will rotate between working in our pre- and post-operative sections, where we care for patients before and after surgery, and assisting in the operating room during surgeries.

As a nursing assistant in the surgical team, you work in close cooperation with the scrub nurse and anesthetist nurse in the perioperative care of the patient. Together with the scrub nurse, you are responsible for systematically planning and organizing the work in connection with surgical procedures, ensuring that hygienic and aseptic principles are met, and preventing the spread of infection. As the department operates today, you will have the opportunity to work daytime Monday-Friday, with weekends off, and we are closed on public holidays.

Requirements:

• Trained nursing assistant with a protected professional title, with a degree from the Care and Nursing program or the Care and Nursing vocational package at adult education.
• Several years of experience from ward or clinic work within hospital care.
• Good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.

Meritorious:

• Experience working in an operating department, emergency clinic, or intensive care.

Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who is positive and meticulous, has a patient-focused approach, and treats both patients and colleagues well. You also express yourself easily in spoken and written Swedish and are comfortable working in digital medical record systems. Your ability to multitask and handle stress is good, and you have the ability to keep many balls in the air. We also look for good teamwork skills and a flexible working style. We seek someone who is engaged and contributes to a good work environment. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability and previous references.

Information about the professional title

From July 1, 2023, "nursing assistant" (undersköterska) is a protected professional title. This means you need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant within care and nursing.

You can apply for the certificate from July 1, 2023. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in care and nursing, but with a different title than nursing assistant. For those offered a job with us at Region Dalarna after July 1, the title in your employment contract will be Care Assistant until you can present your certificate. Those who had a permanent employment with the title nursing assistant when the new rules came into effect on July 1, 2023, can continue to use the nursing assistant title for 10 years. You can keep the title even if you change workplace/employer after July 1. After that, you need to have a certificate of the protected professional title to use the title nursing assistant.
