About Us

At the University College of Music and Drama at Örebro University, artistic and scientific perspectives meet knowledge and learning in an environment where different aesthetic expressions interact. In the subject of music pedagogy at the University College of Music and Drama, education is offered within the Subject Teacher Programme and the Theatre Pedagogy Programme at basic and advanced levels. We also conduct music pedagogical research within the framework of the doctoral programme in Musicology.

In the research environment Music and the Human Being, music is studied as both an individual, social, and cultural phenomenon. The research deals with music and equality; music, Bildung, and education, and concerns young and old, professionals and amateurs, and covers all forms of music.

The research environment has a clear profile regarding questions about music, power, and injustice.

Responsibilities

As a University Lecturer or University Assistant, you will devote your working hours to teaching at all levels and research, as well as related collaboration. In addition to teaching, research, and collaboration, the responsibilities include development work, administration, and competence development. The teaching also includes supervision, examination, course development, planning, and evaluation.

Teaching takes place primarily within music pedagogy with a focus on didactics, scientific methods, and critical thinking within the Subject Teacher Programme and the Theatre Pedagogy Programme.

Teaching in related programmes, such as the Bachelor's Programme in Music, Culture and Media, the Artistic Bachelor's Programme, and the Master's Programme Music and the Human Being, also occurs, as well as in standalone courses. Pedagogical leadership roles such as course, sub-course, and programme responsibility are included in the employment. Teaching is conducted primarily in Swedish, but teaching in English also occurs.

This position is advertised as a University Lecturer or Tenured University Assistant. This means that a Tenured University Assistant may be considered if there are no applicants who meet the qualification requirements for a University Lecturer. There is an opportunity for promotion to University Lecturer.

The position is 100%, permanent, with start date as agreed. Örebro University applies individual salary setting and, where applicable, probationary employment.
