At Vänersborgs Kostenhet (Catering Unit), we have well-educated and dedicated staff who work to serve delicious, nutritious, and varied meals to the municipality's primary schools, preschools, care and nursing units, and upper secondary schools. Within the Catering Unit, there are 23 production kitchens, 22 receiving kitchens, and within the elderly care sector, there are 2 production kitchens. In total, we have approximately 125 employees. A meal has several purposes; it should meet our needs for nutrition and enjoyment, but the social interaction around the meal is also important. The Catering Unit works to ensure that the food is of good quality, varied, and that the guest receives a friendly welcome and can eat in a pleasant environment.

We are now looking for a cook for our meal pool. The work is scheduled during daytime hours, Monday to Friday. If you are driven by a genuine interest in food and naturally have the diners in focus, this is a job for you!

Job Responsibilities

Job Goals

The Catering Unit works to ensure that the food is varied and of good quality, and that the guest receives a friendly welcome. Our target groups are elderly care, schools, and preschools. We work to ensure that the meals are safe, sustainable, and climate-smart.

Areas of Responsibility and Tasks Included in the Position

As a cook in the meal pool, you work in various kitchens throughout the municipality and are involved in all parts of kitchen work.

• Production and purchasing planning
• Preparation and serving of meals, standard diet, as well as individualized meals
• Goods receiving
• Dishwashing and cleaning
• Execution and documentation of self-control
• Work in the catering data system Mateo
• In daily work, you contribute to following guidelines and achieving set goals. You are part of a team that collaborates and helps each other with the tasks found in a kitchen.

Qualifications

You should have completed the upper secondary school's Restaurant and Food Management program or adult education assessed as equivalent. Alternatively, you should have undergone validation (or journeyman's certificate) that can verify skills equivalent to the above. You should have good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing, as well as computer skills. Knowledge of special diets is meritorious.

Work Experience

Meritorious with experience as a cook in large-scale kitchens.

Information

Before employment as a cook, a certificate of good conduct is required according to the School Act (2010:800). You request a certificate of good conduct at polisen.se which is then shown before employment takes place.

Administrative staff, cleaners, school caretakers, and kitchen staff must also show a certificate of good conduct prior to employment.

The position is a permanent employment.

Start date 2026-09-01 or by agreement.
