Case Worker in Administrative Law – Falun

We are now looking for a Case Worker in Administrative Law in Falun. Here, together with engaged and friendly colleagues, you will have the opportunity to develop and gain new experiences. At the same time, you will contribute to increasing safety and reducing crime in Sweden. Are you ready for a bigger challenge?

About the Department

The Service Department is one of the Swedish Police Authority's national departments and consists of three units with a total of just over 720 employees. The department is part of the crime prevention mission and works with citizen services in the form of e-services and reception activities, develops travel documents and service cards, provides public records and extracts from registers. The authority's administrative cases and the national telephone exchange are also included, as is the responsibility for the authority's information management.

The position will be located within the administrative law operations and includes, among other things, the issuance and revocation of permits to possess firearms, inspections of gun dealers, and other administrative law matters within the firearms area. Some tasks are performed in close cooperation with police operational activities.

2 positions available.

Responsibilities

As an administrative case worker, you work with investigating, processing, presenting, and making decisions in administrative law cases. In this group, cases are handled according to the Firearms Act and the Firearms Ordinance.

Firearms cases include, among other things, cases where private individuals or organizations apply for permits to possess firearms, for example for hunting or target shooting purposes. You will assess individuals' suitability to possess firearms, whether firearm permits should be revoked, and how a firearm from an estate should be handled. The work involves writing decisions that you either present to your manager or decide on yourself. The processing of administrative law cases takes place primarily in the police's digital case management system and through written and oral contact, so you need to be comfortable working with a computer and phone as work tools.

The work also includes conducting inspections of gun dealers, private individuals, shooting clubs, and associations regarding the physical storage and possession of firearms. The work therefore requires that you are comfortable handling physical firearms. Travel occurs in the work when conducting inspections.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Completed upper secondary education
  • At least 6 months of recent work experience in qualified case processing and decision-making that the employer deems relevant
  • Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish
  • Manual B driver's license

Merits:

  • Current work experience in administrative law cases that the employer deems relevant
  • Experience searching and working with legal texts
  • Experience in practical handling of firearms, for example from military service, hunting, or target shooting activities
  • Good computer skills with experience working in case management systems and the Microsoft Office package
  • Experience working within a government agency or in other public operations

Personal Qualities

To succeed in the role of case worker, you should be interested in case processing, work independently, and thrive in a sometimes fast-paced environment.

You enjoy searching for information and making decisions. You have a structured approach that allows you to prioritize the right things in your work. You also care about your colleagues and enjoy collaborating. As a person, you are interested in learning new legislation and new working methods.

In the work of assessing individuals' suitability to possess firearms, precision and high integrity are required. In dialogue with citizens over phone/email and during inspections, high demands are placed on you being service-oriented with very good communication skills.

We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
