VO6, Department of Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry consists of inpatient care, with a 24-hour open emergency clinic, and psychiatric outpatient services in Falköping, Skövde, Lidköping, and Mariestad. The inpatient care comprises four wards with a total of 58 beds in completely new and modern facilities at Skaraborg Hospital in Skövde, as well as an additional 33 psychiatric forensic medicine beds in Falköping.

Are you a resident doctor curious about psychiatry?

Adult Psychiatry at Skaraborg Hospital is now looking for resident doctors for our psychiatric outpatient clinics. We are looking for you who are genuinely interested in human interaction and the conditions that affect brain functions. You should be able to work independently to some extent.

• In-depth knowledge within a specialist area with good opportunities for further specialist training (ST).

Responsibilities

At the psychiatric outpatient clinics, we work in interdisciplinary teams based on the patient's diagnosis. Each team is led by a consultant physician who has overall responsibility for the patients. As a resident doctor, you will work closely with the responsible consultant. Your duties include conducting your own adapted patient visits in consultation with your supervisor, prescribing medication, and issuing medical certificates.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone interested in adult psychiatry. You must be a licensed physician, or alternatively, approved for term 9 or later in your medical studies. If you are graduated or licensed from a non-European country, you must have the eligibility to work as a physician in Sweden. If you are studying medicine abroad, the requirement is that you study within the EU.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

Other Information

We are seeking resident doctor vacancies for autumn 2026 and spring 2027. For appointments within psychiatry, we require an extract from the suspicion and criminal record register. This request is handled by the employer.

Interviews are ongoing, and the position may be filled before the application deadline.
