Job Responsibilities

Working as a resident doctor (underläkare) is rewarding and a key step in your career, where you will develop your skills in daily work. It is a valuable asset before starting an AT/BT (residency) position. This role offers you the chance to find security in clinical work after your education, get to know the city, establish a social context, and gain a foothold in the hospital's organization, routines, and medical record systems for the future. In your daily work and during on-call duties, you will always have an experienced colleague to ask for advice in all situations. This temporary position can also be applied for by licensed doctors with an interest in a future specialist training (ST) position. We continuously work on our training program for our AT/BT doctors, which is reflected in high appreciation, for example in the AT ranking. Temporary staff also have the opportunity to participate.

As a resident doctor with us, you will meet patients with various psychiatric diagnoses. The work involves standard ward duties such as admissions, daily assessments, discharge summaries, and referrals. You will work closely with senior physicians, contribute to patient treatment and follow-up, and assist in planning for discharge. You will work in a team with other professions, and through supervision, you will gain a deeper understanding of healthcare and develop your ability to interact with and treat patients with mental illness.

Work in on-call services is part of the job, and you will handle patients with clear support from senior physicians or backup doctors.

You will be part of the medical group and collaborate with other resident doctors, ST doctors, senior physicians/specialists, and chief physicians. All resident doctors here receive a relatively comprehensive introduction and continuous supervision.

We are currently looking for one resident doctor for a temporary position with good opportunities for extension. We have extensive experience in coordinating this role in relation to, for example, the AT/BT application process. If you have thoughts about this, we can facilitate contact with resident doctors who have previously chosen this path.

Work may also take place at one of our wards in Varberg.

About the Workplace

Psychiatry Halland is Region Halland's administration for all public specialized psychiatry. This includes psychiatry for children, adolescents, and adults, both outpatient and inpatient care. Psychiatry Halland has approximately 650 employees and operations in all municipalities in the region. Psychiatry is led by an administration director, operation managers, ward managers, and medically responsible leaders (MLA). Psychiatry in Halland is in an intensive development phase where we are working to create a well-functioning psychiatry and develop our care processes towards more open care forms. Other focus areas include increasing patient involvement and being perceived as an attractive employer.

Our inpatient care is located in Halmstad and Varberg, with associated psychiatric emergency departments and on-call lines. In Halmstad, there are three care wards, and in Varberg, there are five care wards, including two county-wide wards such as forensic psychiatry and addiction treatment.

Our outpatient care is located around our Halland cities: Laholm, Hylte, Halmstad, Falkenberg, Varberg, and Kungsbacka. There is close cooperation between our outpatient and inpatient care.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have completed and passed courses up to and including term 10 of the medical education program, as well as completed the psychiatry course with passing grades. It is also meritorious if you have a valid medical degree. The position can also be applied for by licensed doctors. To ensure good and safe communication with colleagues, patients/customers, and other contacts, we require good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

We consider it meritorious if you have previous experience as a resident doctor and work experience within specialized psychiatric operations.

In addition to good medical competence and attention to detail, you are calm and have a good and professional attitude towards patients and colleagues. You work well with others and have the ability to listen and adapt your communication based on the other party. Furthermore, you are good at planning and prioritizing your work effectively.
