The jurisdiction of the Land and Environment Court covers Jämtland County, Gävleborg County, parts of Västernorrland County, and smaller parts of Västerbotten County. The court handles, among other things, application cases concerning environmentally hazardous operations, permits for water operations, property cases, and cases appealed from the County Administrative Board or the municipality. Then a position as a case handler at Östersund District Court might be for you.
The Role Involves
The court handles a large number of cases concerning felling notifications that have been appealed from the Swedish Forest Agency. For the current year, the court has been allocated additional funds for this work in the first phase. The court is open to flexible working hours. In addition to working on these cases, you will assist other court case handlers in their ongoing work.
As a case handler, you are part of a team of handlers who, together with lawyers, technical advisors, and other employees, ensure that cases are resolved quickly, legally securely, and with high quality. The main tasks of the case handler are:
- registering cases and related matters (registry)
- independently handling and preparing cases for hearings
- planning court days, summoning parties to hearings, and taking notes or minutes during hearings
- correspondence, monitoring deadlines, and issuing judgments
- daily contact with parties, representatives, authorities, and the public via phone and email
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have completed upper secondary education and have some years of professional experience. Experience as a case handler at another court, authority, or law firm may be meritorious.
You should have:
- very good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish, and you should be able to speak and understand English
- good computer skills and an ease in learning new computer systems, as we use the computer as our primary work tool
- interest in actively participating in the development of our digital working methods
- good experience with phone and email, with a pronounced and natural sense of service and quality
- the work involves travel and sometimes overnight stays in connection with hearings within the court's geographical area

To be considered for employment at Östersund District Court, you must meet high demands regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. This means you uphold democratic values and the public sector values that govern the activities of the Swedish Courts. Naturally, we require you to follow applicable laws. In the event of employment, the court may conduct a background check.
The position is a fixed-term appointment at the Land and Environment Court's registry function, with the possibility of extension.
