The jurisdiction of the Land and Environment Court covers Jämtland County, Gävleborg County, parts of Västernorrland County, and smaller parts of Västerbotten County. The court handles, among other things, application cases concerning environmentally hazardous activities, permits for water activities, property cases, and cases appealed from the County Administrative Board or municipality. The role involves
Work at the Land and Environment Court consists of permit assessments for environmentally hazardous activities and water activities according to Chapters 9 and 11 of the Environmental Code, as well as reviews of authority decisions concerning, for example, environmentally hazardous activities, water activities, area protection, shore protection, property cases, cases regarding the Planning and Building Act, and the Act on Public Water and Sewage Services. As a legal preparer (beredningsjurist), your task will be to prepare cases, conduct legal research, present cases for decision, draft proposals for decisions, and serve as the court reporter during hearings and meetings. The work is carried out in close collaboration with judge-laymen, technical advisors, and court clerks.
The court handles a large number of cases regarding logging notifications appealed from the Swedish Forest Agency. The court has been allocated additional funds for this work in the first phase of the current year. In addition to working on these cases, you will assist other legal preparers in their ongoing work.
Qualifications
You must have a law degree and preferably be a sworn legal clerk (notarie). Previous experience in the legal areas of the Land and Environment Court can be advantageous, for example from courts, authorities, law firms, or organizations. You work independently and result-oriented, you are meticulous, have a good ability to collaborate, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. We assume you have a strong interest in environmental and property law. The work is stimulating, developmental, and independent. The court has skilled and engaged employees, and the role provides broad and in-depth knowledge within environmental and property law. Since the Land and Environment Court has a large jurisdiction involving travel with overnight stays, a driver's license is desirable.
