You will join a team of lawyers working alongside experienced colleagues, operating independently under the coordination of a City Attorney. This is a full-time parental leave substitute position until 2027-10-31. Extension may be possible. Start date as soon as possible after agreement.

Your new job

The role of Municipal Lawyer involves working in a multifaceted operation and places high demands on the ability to quickly grasp various legal issues, both broadly and deeply; which requires flexibility and independence. You will provide legal advice to the municipality's boards/departments, municipal associations, and municipal companies.

It is an advantage if you have a strong interest in societal issues and find it stimulating to work in a politically governed organization. The ability to collaborate with different professions and gather multiple perspectives will be important, as will the ability to switch between different cases and take on new questions with short notice.

You work closely with decision-makers and operations and are involved when we translate legislation, political goals, and values into practice. This role suits you if you like having an overview, thrive in a politically governed environment, and truly value democracy, participation, and order and clarity in decisions. We focus on transparency, inclusion, diversity, and good treatment in contact with citizens.

Common tasks

• Provide ongoing legal advice to managers, politicians, and operations within municipal law and administrative law, public access and confidentiality
• Support the preparation and processing of cases for the municipal executive board and boards
• Draft and review agreements, guidelines, regulations, and other governing documents
• Participate in development and change work focusing on legal certainty, transparency, and quality
• Handle legal issues from the municipality's broad operations with short notice and provide good service

Your qualifications

Requirements

• Law degree
• Work experience with qualified legal issues
• Very good ability to express yourself clearly and pedagogically in speech and writing in Swedish

Meritorious

• Experience with public law and civil law issues such as dispute resolution and litigation, municipal law, administrative law, public access and confidentiality, contract law, school law, social law, tort law, procurement, and property law.
• Experience from a politically governed organization, such as a municipality, region, or state authority
