Norra Timber processes timber from the forests of Norrland.
Norra Timber is part of Norra Skog, a member-owned organization driven by the goal of making forest ownership in Norrland as valuable as possible for our 27,000 members. We advocate for sustainable forestry and a vibrant rural life. Our members contribute diversity and sustainable forest management, and in our industries, we optimize the use of raw materials from every harvested tree.
Our timber comes from one of the world's best forest districts – northern Sweden. The harsh climate means the forest grows slowly here, resulting in slow-grown, fine-grained wood with dense annual rings. Therefore, pine and spruce from Norrland are considered among the most prestigious timber raw materials. We modestly refer to it as "vintage timber." We are proud to note that our northern forests are processed into climate-smart products used across large parts of the world.
Norra Timber's operations include three sawmills, three processing units, and a pole factory. We produce nearly 800,000 cubic meters of sawn timber, 250,000 cubic meters of planed timber, as well as approximately 60,000 turned pine poles and 150,000 chip bales annually. Approximately 60% of our timber sales are exported. The association also owns 30 percent of Husum Pulp AB. More than 600 people work within the Norra Skog group, with a turnover of approximately 5 billion SEK.
