About the position

Welcome to the Vega Public and School Library, a meeting place where we strive to make a difference in people's lives.

We are now looking for a curious library assistant who, together with the rest of the work group, wants to help shape the library of the future in Vega.

We are looking for you who want to grow with us and be part of our exciting journey towards building a new city, where the library is a central part of society.

You will be part of a work group with three engaged and supportive colleagues, becoming the fourth colleague. The library premises are large and bright, with an accompanying study room.

Working at Vega Library offers exciting challenges that suit those with a creative mind and a high level of engagement, especially with children and young people, as these are our priority target groups.

We believe in the power of knowledge and reading and work actively to promote this through various programs and activities for our visitors.

The position is 100% permanent. Evening and weekend work is included.

About Vega School and Activity House

The Public and School Library is located in Vega School and Activity House, which opened in August 2023. The building buzzes with life and activities from morning until evening. In addition to the library and school, there is also a preschool, after-school care, and music school activities. In the evenings and on weekends, the building provides space for community life, offering study circles, sports activities, and lectures.

Your role and responsibilities

In your role, together with your colleagues, you will play an important part in shaping the library's offerings for children, young people, and adults. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities for personal and professional development.

You will:

• Develop and implement programs and activities that promote reading and learning.
• Work closely with schools and society to create meaningful partnerships.
• Provide high-quality service and guidance to our visitors.
• Contribute to creating a safe and inspiring environment where everyone feels welcome.
• Contribute to the library's purchases and collection management.
• Perform common library tasks such as shelving, weeding, and library administration.

Your qualifications

Meritorious qualifications

It is meritorious if you have a library science degree or other education that the employer deems equivalent. Previous library work and experience working with children and young people are also meritorious.

About Libraries in Haninge

The Libraries in Haninge, including Vega Library, consist of three public libraries and two integrated public and school libraries. The Haninge Book Bus visits the municipality's preschools and institutions on its tours around the municipality, and there is also a small library on Örnö.
