About Vårby RO

Vårby RO consists of three schools; Grindstuskolan F-3, Vårbackaskolan F-3, and Vårbyskolan 4-9. The schools have one principal and three deputy principals, and cooperation between the units continues at all levels. Vårby schools are located in Vårby Gård, a green and beautiful area along the red metro line. Approximately 550 students attend the Vårby schools. The position will be at Vårbyskolan where we currently have approximately 240 students.

About the job

The main task of the position is to develop and run the school library operations as a pedagogical resource for students' learning within the Vårby Principal Area. As a school librarian, you work actively to promote reading, language, and knowledge development. You support students and teachers in information searching and source criticism, plan and carry out reading-promoting activities, and develop the library's operations and media collection. Through close cooperation with the school staff and external actors, you contribute to integrating the library's resources into teaching. With an outward-looking and relationship-building approach, you create inspiring environments where children's and young people's language, imagination, and curiosity have the opportunity to grow.

In the role of school librarian, you will be responsible for all primary schools' libraries within Vårby RO. Working hours are during the day Monday-Friday. As a school librarian, you will among other things:

• be responsible for the development of the schools' library operations
• support students and teachers in their information searching and reading-promoting work
• plan, inspire, and carry out activities and projects that promote reading and information competence
• manage the library's media collection, including purchasing, cataloging, and weeding
• cooperate with the school staff to integrate the library's resources into teaching
• develop and conduct workshops and training in information competence
• be responsible for the school library's digital resources and website
• participate in the school's development work and contribute with the library's perspective
• create and maintain contacts with Public Libraries and other relevant organizations
• contribute with current research and environmental monitoring

You create conditions for children's and young people's language, imagination, and curiosity to develop through outward-looking work and by building networks.

About you

You have an education relevant to the task such as library and information science or equivalent education. It is meritorious if you have previous experience of working as a school librarian.

You take active initiative in social contexts, step forward, and have an easy time creating new relationships with students and your colleagues and in other contexts. You are cooperative and adapt through a status-free focus on the common goal. You see more solutions than problems and want to find solutions to arising problems.

Since language is a key to achieving good cooperation and being able to reach understanding, you possess very good linguistic skills in both speech and writing.
