Museum Host with Focus on Conference Operations – 1 Position

We are currently looking for an engaged museum host who wants to help create memorable experiences for our visitors at the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities (Medelhavsmuseet), the Museum of Ethnography (Etnografiska museet), and the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities (Östasiatiska museet). This role combines hospitality with administrative responsibilities related to conferences.

Responsibilities

Your main tasks include actively welcoming guests with warmth and curiosity, and informing them about our activities. As a museum host, you will circulate in the public areas of the museums, answer visitors' questions (both in person and digitally), conduct tours and visitor surveys, and staff the entrance and gift shop.

You are also responsible for the daily supervision of exhibitions and public spaces, as well as acting in alarm and emergency situations. Additionally, you will be involved in preparations and execution for venue rentals and program activities.

As a museum host with a focus on conference operations, you will independently handle administrative preparatory and follow-up tasks related to conferences, in close collaboration with the Conference Manager.

Your Profile

You will have a scheduled work time, meaning work during the day, evenings, and weekends. This role is part of both a host team and a conference team. You will primarily work at the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities and the Museum of Ethnography, but may also work at the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities if needed. Remote work may occur.

You contribute with engagement and ideas, and collaborate well with colleagues to meet all visitors' needs and offer a first-class visitor experience.

Requirements (Must-haves)

  • Completed relevant upper secondary education.
  • Experience in customer service and hospitality within the visitor or tourism industry.
  • Experience with basic technology (sound, light, image) for meetings.
  • Experience handling individual visitors as well as small and large groups.
  • Good ability to express yourself clearly in Swedish and English.
  • Experience with ticket and cash handling.
  • Experience working independently with administrative tasks.
  • Experience preparing, presenting, and executing conferences.

Personal Qualities

These qualities are critical for the role and are therefore part of the requirements:

  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Good judgment.
  • Relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work constructively under pressure or in difficult situations.

Merits

  • Post-secondary education with a focus on service.
  • Experience working in booking systems.
  • Experience with guided tours.
  • Additional language skills beyond Swedish and English.
