Job Description

AFRY Global Division Industry supports the process industry in a range of different areas – from Mining & Metals, Pulp & Paper, and Chemicals & Biorefining to growing sectors like Batteries and Power-to-X.

In Sweden, AFRY is present in over 90 locations. Within the Industry business area, we are approximately 8,000 people, of which about 1,000 employees are in Sweden, spread across more than 40 of these locations. This makes us a strong local partner with access to both national and global competence.

Our offering covers the entire customer value chain and project lifecycle – from early investigations and concept phases, through major CAPEX projects, to operational resource and specialist support.

Through a unique combination of process technology, project management, multidisciplinary design, and expertise in digitalization, maintenance, and sustainability (environment, health, and safety), we create added value and long-term solutions for our customers. With roots in the Nordics and projects across the world, we combine local presence with global expertise.

The growing section is Plant Design in Piteå. Our section consists of approximately 15 employees who support industrial customers with design, construction, calculations, and project management within mechanics, piping & plant, and HVAC.

About the Role

AFRY Process Industries is growing – and we are now looking for experienced piping and plant designers within Plant Design to join our team in Piteå.

We work closely with the process industry in areas such as:

• Mining & Metals
• Pulp & Paper
• Chemicals & Biorefining
• Batteries, Power-to-X, and other future areas

Here, you will work on projects spanning the entire facility lifecycle – from early studies to execution, installation, and commissioning.

Your tasks may include:

As a Piping & Plant Designer

• Design within piping, HVAC, and plant layout
• Detailed design in both smaller and larger assignments, in both brownfield and greenfield projects
• The role of lead designer with responsibility for coordination and follow-up

Participation in feasibility studies, pre-engineering, execution, and installation coordination.

Qualifications

We believe you are a person who thrives in collaboration with others and likes to take responsibility – both technically and in the relationship with the customer.

We would like you to have:

• University or college education in mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience
• Experience with Pipe & Plant Design, mechanical design, or similar – preferably within the process industry
• Good knowledge of relevant standards and directives
• Experience working in various CAD environments
• Good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
• Category B driver's license and flexibility for on-site customer assignments

Merits

• Several years of experience in a similar role
• Experience as a project manager or lead designer
• Established network of customers and suppliers in the region
