Ersta Hospital is part of Ersta Diaconal University College and is Sweden's largest faith-based hospital with a clear value base – seeing the whole person. With roots dating back to 1851, we have provided healthcare on Södermalm in Stockholm, but we receive patients from all over the country. Here, we offer high-quality, specialized healthcare with both breadth and top expertise. We are a university healthcare unit and conduct research, education, and development in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet. We are growing to be able to help more people, and since 2023, the hospital's capacity has tripled and eight new units have started.

The Department of Surgery and Anesthesiology specializes in advanced surgery within upper and lower GI as well as abdominal wall surgery. On our surgical ward, which also includes an admission unit, we meet patients both before and after surgery. The care is planned, structured, and follows standardized care pathways.

Here you work close to the surgical clinic, operating room, and post-op/ICU, which creates good conditions for collaboration, learning, and high quality throughout the entire care chain. About the role

As a nurse, you are responsible for nursing care and work in a team together with, among others, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, and surgeons. You follow the patient through the entire care chain – from admission and preparations for surgery to postoperative care and a safe return home.

In the role, you combine clinical competence with person-centered nursing. You work according to the ERAS program and use your knowledge to prevent complications, strengthen patient participation, and create the best possible conditions for recovery.

As a nurse, you work both on Ward 4 and at the admission unit, which gives variety, development, and a broad understanding of the surgical care pathway.

The advertisement concerns a one-year temporary position with an start date of 2026-09-01. The position is for 37 hours per week with individual scheduling. Weekend work corresponds to approximately every third weekend (10 weekend shifts in 10 weeks).

Your experience

We are looking for you who:

• are a registered nurse
• have at least two years of experience in the profession
• have an interest in surgical care

Experience of surgical care is meritorious.
