System Administrator

Job Description

Do you want to work in an environment where IT makes a real difference for education, research, and societal development? We are now looking for a System Administrator for Malmö University's IT Department – a role where you get to combine technology, business development, and collaboration. As a System Administrator here, you will become a central part of our administration team. The System Administrator is often the link between users, suppliers, and the IT Department. Therefore, you work closely with both the business operations and technology, contributing to the efficient use and development of our systems in line with the organization's needs. System administration at Malmö University involves a lot of prioritization, follow-up, documentation, and change planning.

You will, together with the team, administer and further develop several important systems, including:

  • Canvas – The University's learning platform
  • Edu Print – The University's print service
  • Edu Sign – System for digital signing
  • E-leg – BankID, Freja eID, eduID

You will work both operationally and with a development focus, and be responsible for, among other things:

  • Administering and further developing our IT systems
  • Leading and/or participating in development efforts and projects
  • Building and developing support structures
  • Providing qualified support (2nd–3rd line)
  • Serving as technical support for system owners
  • Collaborating with other higher education institutions and external suppliers
  • Monitoring deliveries and contributing to improved working methods
  • Scanning the external environment within your area

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who combines technical competence with a business-oriented perspective.

Requirements

  • Relevant higher education/university education in IT (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of experience in system administration and administration models
  • Good understanding of business processes, such as incident management, change requests, and releases.
  • Experience with supplier contacts, such as requirement management and prioritizing development efforts
  • Good communication skills in both Swedish and English

Merits

  • Experience with M365 and/or Power BI
  • Interest in AI and its impact on IT deliveries
  • Databases (SQL).
  • Integrations and APIs
  • Permission and security administration
  • Basic understanding of cloud services
  • Testing and quality assurance
  • Ability to document systems, processes, and routines
  • Experience writing user instructions and requirement specifications
  • Experience monitoring contracts and SLAs
  • Experience coordinating with consultants and system suppliers

Working with IT at a university is a varied and challenging job characterized by a balance between academic freedom and technical limitations. The University's IT Department delivers a broad range of services to the operations, divided into 4 units: IT Infrastructure, IT Service, IT Digitalization, and IT Administration, which together comprise just over 60 people.

This position is located within the IT Administration unit, which is situated in premises on Universitetsholmen near the central station. IT Administration is a unit with broad competence in system administration and system development, working closely with the rest of the operations, often in project form.
