The Public Library is part of the Culture and Leisure Administration in Tibro Municipality. The administration consists of a leisure unit and a culture unit, where the library is a activity within the culture unit alongside the museum and cultural school. The library is co-located with Fågelvik School (the municipality's upper secondary school), a youth center, and the cultural school in inspiring premises.

Job Responsibilities
We are now seeking a substitute children's librarian with a special focus on our younger visitors. You have subject responsibility for the children's department (ages 0–12, including SAB sections J, K, T, and U), which encompasses both non-fiction and fiction literature, as well as work with the Swedish Arts Council's purchase support for public and school libraries.
The role involves a wide range of exciting and outward-looking activities:
- Plan and implement reading-promoting activities such as storytimes at the Family Center, Book Coffee (a book club for children), and holiday activities (e.g., Summer Book).
- Receive class visits from lower and middle school levels.
- Work with "Språktåget" (Language Train, including marking new books) and "Bokgåvan" (The Book Gift), which involves ordering, as well as statistics and reporting to the region.
- Manage book deposits to preschools, schools, and Child Health Centers (BVC).
- Host "Book Tips with 11-Coffee" together with a colleague.
- Work at the library's information desk and interact with our visitors in daily operations.
The position is a parental leave substitute. The substitute period runs from 2026-11-26 to 2028-01-10.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a university education in library and information science, or other education/experience that the employer assesses as equivalent. It is highly meritorious if you have experience working as a children's librarian or have previously worked at a public library.
You have good knowledge of the Swedish language and good IT competence. You have good knowledge of children's literature and are passionate about igniting a love of reading in children and young people.
As a person, you are creative, outgoing, and pedagogical. You have a professional and welcoming attitude when meeting both visitors and colleagues. Since the role involves many contact points and collaboration around activities, it is important that you have very good collaboration skills, while also being able to structure and drive your own areas of responsibility independently.
Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
Employment Conditions
- Salary form: Monthly salary.
- Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
- Duration: 6 months or longer.
- Start date: 2026-11-26.
- End date: 2028-01-10.
- Working hours: The position is a parental leave substitute at 100% during the period 2026-11-26 to 2028-01-10.
Before employment, an extract from the criminal record register must be presented, as well as documentation proving that you are allowed to work on the Swedish labor market. For example, a certificate of citizenship in Sweden/EU/EES (e.g., passport), a certificate of residence permit, or a certificate of work permit to work in Sweden.
In Tibro Municipality, we apply individual and differentiated salary setting. The salary setting is based on a comprehensive assessment of the demands and responsibilities of the assignment, educational background, relevant experience, personal suitability, as well as the current salary level for corresponding or equivalent positions and prevailing market conditions.
