Wasaskolan is located just next to large green areas with a newly renovated schoolyard for recess activities. Inside, you will find a well-maintained, rustic school with bright premises, ample natural light, and a brand-new cafeteria. We also have a nice school library with a trained librarian where students can sit and read or borrow books. Wasaskolan is a grades F-9 school with approximately 520 students, as well as an adapted primary school that is expanding from grades 7–9 to grades 4–9. With us, you will meet a large student health team, good administration, and maintenance staff. All of this is to ensure that you, as a teacher, have the best support around the classroom and teaching. Together, the approximately 80 staff members working at the school form a strong team. At Wasaskolan, we actively work with collegial learning to continuously develop our employees and, by extension, the entire school.
We are now looking for a special needs teacher focusing on Intellectual Disability (ID) who, together with our staff in the adapted primary school, will teach our students in grades 6-9. The main task will be to teach our students who are studying subjects, but it may also be that part of the teaching is for our students studying subject areas.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for the teaching process together with other teachers for the students who are studying subjects. You understand the importance of teaching being creative and stimulating, while also resting on research and proven methods. You plan, organize, and conduct the teaching individually and together with your colleagues. You are flexible and have good collaboration skills and a willingness to work together with other staff so that students can reach their full potential. Together with the others, you create a classroom environment characterized by security, trust, and respect.
Teachers in the adapted primary school are part of a work team where you, together with your colleagues, plan, teach, supervise, and document based on the curriculum.
You organize and lead lessons which are adapted for students within ID and autism spectrum to provide good conditions for learning. You collaborate closely with colleagues regarding teaching and planning of operations.
You also participate in the school's Student Health Team (EHT) and, together with a colleague, are responsible for part of the documentation written for the students in the adapted primary school.

- You are interested in working with students with functional variations and can adapt your teaching to this target group.
Requirements:
- You are a licensed primary school teacher.
- You have a special needs teaching degree with a focus on intellectual disability.
- You have knowledge and experience of alternative augmentative communication with sign support as well as compensatory teaching materials.
- You are well acquainted with the curriculum of the adapted primary school.
