Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse issues across the country. At SiS, your working life becomes an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Stigby on Visingsö has space for 35 young people and receives non-compulsory-school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. We are divided into an MBB unit (reception and needs assessment), four treatment units, and a discharge preparation unit in Jönköping.

Job Description

As a Group Leader, you contribute to a safe and secure environment for both placed children and young people and staff. In this role, you work actively in the operational care and treatment work on the unit. You are responsible for planning, operationally leading, and distributing the daily work. You act as a role model and promote that the work is conducted in a legally secure manner and in accordance with current directives, methods, and set goals. You keep the unit manager of your unit regularly updated on issues that may affect the work environment, care and treatment environment, or deficiencies in the operations. Introduction and supervision of new employees are also part of your work. You are part of a team with the unit manager and treatment secretary, and you will have close cooperation to create good results together.

The role may include some institution-wide tasks, such as leading and distributing resource positions, recruitment work, and/or standby service.

Qualifications

To thrive and succeed in the role of Group Leader, you are motivated by working with and helping people in vulnerable life situations. The operational work and the meeting with young people are your main focus. You are good at planning, organizing, and prioritizing work effectively and are clear in your communication with others. At the same time, you are attentive and affirming in your approach to young people and staff, and good at building relationships. You have a professional attitude and a good ability to cooperate and to put yourself in others' perspectives. The work is sometimes challenging and requires that you are stable and maintain your composure even in stressful situations.

You must also have:

  • A university education of at least 180 higher education credits with a focus on social sciences, care, or behavioral sciences, or alternatively other education combined with work experience that SiS considers equivalent.
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both in writing and orally.

Meritorious:

  • Several years of meritorious work experience from work within SiS or other operations focusing on care, treatment, and security, such as social services, care and treatment, prison services, or other relevant operations.
  • Experience in administrative work.
  • Experience in recruitment.
  • Experience in developing and implementing ways of working.
  • Experience in pedagogically supporting employees in new ways of working.

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time position and begins with a six-month probationary period.
