Workplace Description

The Molecular Neurogenetics research group at the Department of Experimental Medical Science within the Faculty of Medicine conducts research on the human brain and its relation to diseases, and is at the international forefront in its field. The research group is led by Professor Johan Jakobsson and includes an additional 14 employees. The group is international and comprises staff within research, administration, and technical roles. We are now seeking a new Project Assistant for a project focused on the bioinformatic analysis of single-cell RNA-seq data from post-mortem tissue from patients with Parkinson's disease. Tasks and Responsibilities

The project focuses on using advanced bioinformatic methods to analyze available large-scale single-cell RNA-sequencing data from the Y chromosome in individuals with Parkinson's disease to identify sex-specific gene regulation changes. Your tasks will include various types of bioinformatic analysis.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, e.g., neurobiology or bioinformatics.
• Documented experience in bioinformatic work.
• Documented good knowledge of bioinformatic analysis.
• Proficiency in English, both oral and written.

Qualifications that are meritorious for the position include:

• Experience with single-cell RNA-seq analysis.
• Experience working together in a team environment.
• Good ability to function well in collaborative projects, both within the group and with other research groups as well as other disciplines.
• Positive attitude, hardworking, and driven to succeed.

Other Information

The employment is a fixed-term appointment for a maximum of one year, 100%, with a start date of September 1, 2026, or as agreed. Employment at Lund University takes place in Sweden, so you are expected to be able to perform your work on-site in Lund.
