We are looking for a Technical Engineer/Environmental Consultant specializing in natural environments for a long-term consulting assignment starting September 1, 2026. The position is full-time and suits you if you have a scientific background and wish to work closely with operations on environmental issues related to road and railway infrastructure.
The role is a junior/assistant specialist position where you will work closely with experienced environmental specialists and support the business with practical and administrative natural environment matters.
Scope and Location
The assignment is full-time, 40 hours per week.
Start Date: September 1, 2026
Duration: 2 years with the possibility of extension for an additional 2 years
Location: Kristianstad
Work Format: Primarily on-site, with the possibility of remote work by agreement
Travel: Business travel occurs within southern and south-eastern Sweden
Equipment: Computer and workstation provided
Fieldwork: May occur in connection with road and railway environments
Responsibilities
In this role, you will primarily work with:
- Support and processing of natural environment issues
- Preparing background material related to operation and maintenance activities
- Monitoring of fauna measures, data collection, and compilation
- Review of natural environment requirements at kick-off meetings
- Support in ordering and conducting permit and baseline inventories
- Support in connection with procurement and contract documents
- Issues related to regulations, internal guidelines, and routines
- Contact and background material in authority cases, such as Section 12:6 consultations, dispensations, and permits
- Work with targeted environmental measures and measures in maintenance plans
- Registration, database work, and documentation
- Knowledge transfer and collaboration with internal functions
Requirements
To be considered for the role, you must meet all the following requirements:
- University education of at least 180 credits in biology, ecology, landscape science, or equivalent relevant education/experience
- At least 1 year of recent work experience handling natural environment issues
- The experience with natural environment issues must be from the last 3 years
- Basic knowledge of ArcGIS Pro
- Basic knowledge of the Environmental Code (Miljöbalken)
- Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish
- Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English
- Current safety training for work on roads
- At least 1 year of experience with inventory work in infrastructure environments, related to roads and/or railways
- At least 1 year of experience with registration and handling of databases, e.g., for environmental features
- Valid Swedish Category B driver's license for passenger cars
Preferred Experience
The following experience is particularly meritorious:
- Worked with natural environment issues in road or railway environments
- Experience with field inventories, baseline inventories, or permit-related natural environment documentation
- Experience with fauna measures or monitoring of environmental measures
- Experience compiling data, writing shorter background documents, and documenting conclusions
- Experience with Section 12:6 consultations, dispensations, permits, or other authority cases
- Worked with environmental data, GIS documentation, or databases
- Experience from public sector, infrastructure, operation, maintenance, or large-scale societal construction projects
- Ability to work independently, structured, and carefully in a role with many contact points
