Do you want to work with environmental issues where legal requirements meet sustainable societal benefit? Do you want to be part of a secure and engaged team developing smart solutions for future waste management? Join Hässleholm Miljö at our circular center in Vankiva!

Your role and responsibilities:

As an Environmental Engineer with us, you will play a key role in developing and monitoring operations at Hässleholm Circular Center. You will work closely with a fellow environmental engineer, as well as colleagues in operations, technology, environment, and business development, contributing your knowledge and analytical skills to matters concerning environmental legislation, permits, processes, and self-control.

This role suits you if you thrive taking responsibility, driving issues forward, and collaborating with others to find solutions. At our company, environmental issues are often nuanced. Therefore, you must be able to balance legal requirements, environmental benefits, technical prerequisites, and commercial viability to find practical and sustainable paths forward.

As an Environmental Engineer, your responsibilities include among others:

  • Establish, develop, and monitor self-control measures, routines, and working methods
  • Coordinate sampling, analyze results, and propose improvements
  • Contribute to the development and efficiency of our processes
  • Produce environmental reports, investigations, and environmental risk assessments
  • Support operations in matters concerning environmental legislation and permits
  • Participate in projects and development work together with colleagues and external parties
  • Communicate with authorities on environmental matters

What we offer you:

  • A values-driven workplace where care, clarity, and forward momentum permeate operations.
  • Competent colleagues and an accessible manager who value a secure and supportive work climate where we help each other and share knowledge.
  • Diverse and developing tasks with great freedom under responsibility.
  • Opportunity to contribute to sustainable solutions with real societal benefit.
  • Good opportunities for competence development and further education.

This is who you are:

You are a person who takes responsibility for your tasks and drives them forward in a structured manner. You enjoy working independently but also see the value in thinking together with others. Since the role involves many contact surfaces, you are attentive, communicative, and skilled at building trust in collaboration with colleagues, authorities, and other stakeholders.

You have strong analytical skills and enjoy delving into complex issues. You don't always need to have the answer from the start, but you have the ability to gather information, weigh different perspectives, and move forward even when prerequisites are unclear. You are solution-oriented and have a commercial approach, while respecting the requirements and frameworks that govern our operations.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university or civil engineering degree in environmental science, chemical engineering, or similar.
  • A few years of experience in the environmental sector, preferably from waste facilities, water treatment, process industry, or other permit-regulated operations.
  • Good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
  • A valid B-class driver's license is required.

Do you want to work on future environmental issues in a company where we know that sustainability starts with sustainable employees?

We welcome your application!

Conditions and application:

The position is a permanent full-time employment, with a six-month probation period. Working hours are scheduled on weekdays.

Hässleholm Miljö conducts socially important operations. This means that all employees are war-placed in the organization to ensure operations during heightened alert.

We conduct background checks and personality tests as part of the recruitment process.

The position is open during the summer, and we will begin the selection process after the application period has ended. During weeks 29–31, the hiring manager and HR generalist are on vacation. If you have questions during this period, for example regarding salary or employment conditions, you are welcome to contact us via [email protected]. The hiring manager returns in week 32.

About us

The Company

Hässleholm Miljö is a business-driven company owned by Hässleholm Municipality. Our mission is to develop and provide services within environment and energy. We are a societal partner driving the development of what truly matters: a sustainable circular society for people and businesses in our municipality. We do this with engagement and knowledge for a sustainable life today – and the courage to find new paths for tomorrow.

Our operations are divided into four strong business areas, with shared functions and processes. We collect, treat, and recycle waste from households, industries, and other operations. We produce and distribute drinking water, transport and treat sewage water, and manage stormwater. Additionally, we produce and deliver district heating in Hässleholm and Tyringe. But we also work with sustainability in everything we do, to reduce our and others' footprint on nature and the water around us.

We like diversity! Therefore, we strive for diversity in all conceivable ways. We believe that different people, competencies, and groups add the most to our operations.

We have approximately 180 employees and our company turnover is around 650 million SEK.
