The Adult Psychiatry area in Malmö Trelleborg is divided into four areas: inpatient care, outpatient care, addiction, and psychosis. We are more than 850 employees working together to provide good care for our patients. The inpatient care area, where approximately 230 employees are included, consists of three inpatient wards and an intermediate care unit. In addition, there is a large emergency department, a psychiatric intensive care unit, a brain stimulation team, as well as administration and resource teams.

Here we work with nurses, unit managers, team leaders, care assistants, ward coordinators, specialist doctors as well as resident doctors (ST- and AT-doctors). Some of our specially trained staff are also part of the prehospital acute psychiatry unit (PAP), the so-called psychiatry ambulance. Some of our specially trained nurses and specialist doctors work with psychiatric consultation towards somatic care.

Our staff group is experienced, functioning well, and has low staff turnover. The work environment is characterized by good cohesion and well-being. We actively work to promote a good work environment and constantly develop our working methods. The area constitutes a university healthcare unit and scientific anchoring permeates the operations. Many units are involved in some form of research and development work.

DUTIES

As a specialist doctor at the psychiatric emergency department, you are involved and active in a unit that focuses on patient safety and development. Your duties include assessment, investigation, and treatment of patients. As a specialist doctor/chief physician, you play an important role in introducing and supervising nursing staff and doctors. You support the triage nurses in their care level assessments and keep yourself updated on patient flows. As needed, you make independent assessments of patients. At the department, we work in a team-based and cross-professional manner. You work consultatively towards somatic care and assess inpatients as well as plan for continued care.

As the medically responsible doctor, you keep yourself updated regarding current guidelines and are responsible for the treatment options the unit performs. You become part of a team of specialists responsible for staffing the back-shift line at the emergency department. You develop as a specialist in a secure environment where colleagues are available for discussion and support in clinical assessments and meet an operation where your competence is utilized and where you can contribute both clinically and strategically.

Further education and development and improvement work takes place continuously at the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who apply are a licensed physician with permission to work within Swedish healthcare. In addition, you have specialist competence in psychiatry. Language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are a requirement. You should have completed or planned a course in clinical supervision.

For employment as a chief physician, you must also have:

• full-time employment for at least three years (documented effective time)
• clinical skill and independence within psychiatry
• defined medical responsibility and knowledge area
• documented teaching and supervision merits.

At a university healthcare unit, it is required that physicians have pedagogical experience and education. This you may have acquired through supervision of, for example, nursing and medical students as well as doctors in training and as co- or main supervisors of doctoral students.
