It is wonderful that you are interested in working as a leisure center teacher with us at Hertsö School. The leisure center consists of a work team of four people. Here, you will have the opportunity to help build up the leisure center for the intermediate grades in our newly built school!

Hertsö School is located in central Hertsön, which is Luleå's largest residential area with approximately 5,500 inhabitants. The school has 310 students in grades 4-9. Here, 50 educators, student health personnel, study and career counselors, caretakers, meal staff, and janitors work. We have long experience together, and many of us have worked at the school for a long time. Hertsö School has had an optional math focus since the autumn term of 2012. Until the spring term of 2026, we conduct operations in temporary modules, but from the autumn term of 2026, we will move into a newly built school.

Hertsön is known for its rich leisure and club life and proximity to nature. Here you will find a library, youth center, sports facilities, and a nature reserve within walking distance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The position of leisure center teacher at Hertsö School involves working with students/student groups during the day and at the leisure center before and after school hours. As a leisure center teacher, you are responsible for conducting leisure center activities, which means planning, developing, and following up on the activities, both individually and together with your work team.

The goal of the leisure center activities is to create an environment that promotes safety, social awareness, and independence. Students are offered a meaningful leisure time that supports their development and encourages them to take their own initiatives.

Recess activities will be part of your assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who:

• is a certified teacher with a focus on leisure centers
• has good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing

It is an advantage if you:

• have professional experience from work in leisure center activities, school, or preschool
• are familiar with the leisure center curriculum

To succeed in the role, you must be structured and skilled at planning, driving your work forward, and completing what you start. You should have a great ability to see all students and take into account each student's individual prerequisites. You should bring energy and enthusiasm to the work and have a desire to see opportunities. You enjoy collaborating, building relationships, and are flexible. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

If you become a candidate for the position, you will need to present a clean extract from the criminal record register.
