About the Department

Forensic Psychiatry is a unique department within Sahlgrenska University Hospital, located in Gunnilse, approximately 20 minutes by public transport from central Gothenburg. Forensic Psychiatry's mission is to provide individually adapted psychiatric care and rehabilitation to patients who have been sentenced to care. The department operates open and inpatient facilities with enhanced security classification and also cares for patients deprived of their liberty under other legislation who require acute psychiatric specialist care.

Our target group at Forensic Psychiatry consists of patients with extensive psychiatric issues.

Forensic Psychiatry has a societal protection responsibility, where the goal is for patients to manage life in society without reoffending due to mental illness. Consequently, Forensic Psychiatry has a dual mission: both societal protection and care. The department is security classified, and the acute unit has security level 1, which is the highest security level in Sweden. The acute unit has a regional mandate to care for detained, prison, and LRV (care under special provisions) sentenced individuals deprived of their liberty who need psychiatric 24-hour care, and consists of twelve care beds.

You have access to the department's rehabilitation facilities, such as a gym and pool, for personal use. Through established routines, dynamic security, participation, and competent staff, we create a good and safe working environment together.

Responsibilities

As a nurse assistant (skötare), you work with both nursing care and societal protection. You are part of a multidisciplinary team where you, as a nurse assistant, play a central and important role. Your main task is to be present for the patients and maintain a calm and safe environment on the unit. As a nurse assistant, you have a supportive function while also conducting daily observations. You will document in Melior, and the role also includes medication management on delegation, sample collection, and monitoring of vital parameters.

As a nurse assistant/care assistant, you are responsible for maintaining a good working environment on the care unit together with your colleagues. Your attitude and efforts are crucial for the department to be characterized by calm, well-being, nursing care, and security. The position includes both day and evening shifts.

About You

We are looking for you who are educated as a nurse assistant (skötare/undersköterska/sjukvårdsbiträde).

It is meritorious if you have experience from Forensic Psychiatry and/or have previously worked within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, SiS (Swedish National Board of Institutional Care), and/or work with deprivation of liberty and coercion.

You have caring qualities, a high level of security awareness, and an interest in law. Furthermore, we believe you are a calm and secure person who can set boundaries. You thrive with varying work pace and can easily shift from calm to acute situations. You have the ability to listen, understand, and motivate, and last but not least, we believe you have a genuine interest in people in vulnerable situations.
