About the Department

We at Department 42 are a medical department specializing in gastrointestinal diseases, liver diseases, kidney diseases, endocrinology, and diabetes. Here, emergency care is provided, as well as planned admissions for, for example, salt load tests, colonoscopies, PD surgeries, and insertion of AV-fistulas/AV-grafts. What a diverse range, right? We think so too!

Being a Nurse with Us

We know that it is important for you as a nurse to have time for the patient. To succeed with this, we have ongoing development work on the department, which means we are refining the role of the nurse on the ward so that you can fully utilize your nursing competence!

How do we do this? We strengthen, among other things, the team around the patient. Our nursing assistants receive expanded responsibilities so that time for you as a nurse is freed up. This expanded responsibility includes assisting with medication and bag dialysis, as well as handling and inserting peripheral venous catheters (PVCs). The nursing assistants working in this area have expanded responsibilities and have received medication delegation.

Your role as a nurse in the team is to plan the care and then carry it out together with the team around the patient. You are the team leader, and to ensure you feel secure in your role, you will undergo internal training.

Around the team, there are a receptionist, a pharmacist, and a SAMSA coordinator. Additionally, your colleagues are experienced nursing assistants who perform qualified nursing and medical interventions.

We are a unit with a strong focus on development, and we invest time and effort to develop the operations with both the patient and a good working environment in focus! Together, we form a team where you are important and contribute with your knowledge and experience so that together we provide good nursing and medical quality for our patients!

Working in specialist medicine means you will gain broad competence and experience. The pace on the department is fast and places high demands on competence and quality from everyone in the team. To ensure you feel secure in your work, you will receive a thorough introduction and a mentor.

About You

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse. You have a holistic view of the patient, are responsible, have structure in your work, are accustomed to working independently and making your own decisions. You enjoy working in a team, are flexible, and confident in yourself. You have the ability to handle complex situations and have good communication skills. You are also engaged and want to develop the patient-focused care on the department. Experience from emergency care is an advantage.

As a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of NU Hospital's Clinical Foundation Year. The Clinical Foundation Year is an initiative to give newly graduated nurses a good start in working life. You will get better opportunities to develop in your profession and build a professional identity through introduction, seminar days, and professional mentoring.
