Element is offering a position as Materials Engineer – Polymer Composites.

We are currently looking for a driven Materials Engineer specializing in polymer composites. You will be part of the PCE department (Polymer & Composite Engineering), which currently consists of three teams: Polymer & Composite, Chemical Analysis, and Occupational/Environmental Health. We offer the opportunity to work on investigation and testing assignments for clients such as the Swedish Armed Forces, as well as actors within the aviation and defense industries. You will handle a variety of client assignments and have the opportunity to develop alongside many experienced and competent colleagues within your own and other technical fields. The role involves close contact with our clients, exciting technical challenges, and opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for materials testing assignments.
  • Participate in project and investigation assignments, involving both theoretical and practical work in our laboratory in Linköping.
  • Conduct training for our clients within the field of polymer materials and polymer composites.
  • Support your colleagues and clients with advice and problem-solving regarding polymer composites and composite repair.
  • Design and coordinate projects within areas such as product development, material substitution, and production development.

Qualifications

  • You are curious, innovative, meticulous, analytical, and quality-conscious.
  • You have a university or college degree, or relevant professional experience, in materials technology, composites, polymers, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related fields.
  • You have good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Pedagogical training or experience in conducting training.
  • Project management training and/or experience as a project manager.
  • Experience with thermal analysis methods such as DSC, DMA, TGA, etc.
  • A few years of work experience in materials technology or materials chemistry.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing of polymer materials.
  • Experience from the consulting industry.
  • Experience working with the Swedish Armed Forces, aviation, or the defense industry.
