We are looking for a student assistant for a fixed-term position at the School of Hospitality and Restaurant Management, Campus Grythyttan.
Background
The School of Hospitality and Restaurant Management (RHS) belongs to the Faculty of Economics, Natural Sciences and Technology and is located on its own campus in Grythyttan. Two bachelor's programmes are offered within the basic education. At the advanced level, it is possible to take courses leading to a one-year master's degree. Interdisciplinary research and doctoral education within Food Science have been conducted at the department since 2001.
A student assistant is a student who works/assists and relieves teachers and kitchen managers with varied tasks. As a student assistant, you are employed on a fixed-term basis, and the work is intended to be done alongside your own studies.
Responsibilities
The main content of the employment is to take care of the kitchen garden outside the House of Food in Grythyttan. The work includes responsibility for irrigation and weeding of the kitchen garden during the summer months. The employment period ends with harvesting work and helping to prepare the garden for winter dormancy.
The kitchen garden is integrated into courses where the culinary craft is combined with other parts of the food system, and the garden is used as a pedagogical tool and resource within the programmes:
Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as a student assistant, you must be admitted to a basic level education, meaning that you are actively studying Food Science and Hospitality at Örebro University. The position requires you to be present 3 days a week during the employment period to handle irrigation during dry weather.
We place emphasis on your personal qualities, such as your ability to work independently, good teamwork skills, and being responsible and meticulous. Since the House of Food is a popular destination, you must also be communicative and service-oriented.
Information
The employment corresponds to approximately 20% for 3 months, starting as soon as possible. Salary is paid in accordance with the local collective agreement.
Student assistants can be employed for one year at a time; the total employment period for a student assistant may not exceed three years.
