Power Engineer – Outokumpu Avesta, Central Maintenance

We are now looking for a Power Engineer for Avesta – a key role for you who wants to combine technical responsibility, development, and close collaboration with other functions. Here, you will have the opportunity to work with a complex internal power system in a business where safety, quality, and long-term sustainability are at the center.

About the role

As a Power Engineer, you play a key role in the management and development of the internal power system to enable safe, stable, and future-proof energy supply. You work both strategically and operationally to ensure that our high-voltage network is safe, reliable, and ready for the future.

The work is varied and involves close collaboration with production, maintenance, project organization, and external parties such as grid owners, consultants, and contractors. You are a technical specialist who contributes expertise in everything from daily operations and troubleshooting to investments, projects, and improvement work.

You also play an important role in ensuring that laws, regulations, and standards are followed, as well as that technical documentation, protection settings, and maintenance strategies are kept up to date.

In the role, you will among other things:

  • Be responsible for the technical management of internal power facilities such as switchgear, transformers, and protection systems
  • Ensure high operational safety and personal safety according to current regulations
  • Participate in or lead projects for new, replacement, and reinvestment investments
  • Perform or order network analyses and power calculations
  • Participate in operational disruptions, troubleshooting, and root cause analyses
  • Support the business in risk assessments, work preparations, and occupational health and safety issues related to power
  • Coordinate and follow up on maintenance efforts and ensure they are handled correctly in the maintenance system
  • Work with standardization, digitalization, and continuous improvements within power and energy supply
  • Be responsible for NetControl and participate in inspections of power facilities, including using drones
  • Participate in on-call duty handling unplanned disruptions

Who are you?

We are looking for you who have a university degree in power engineering, or equivalent experience. You have several years of experience working with power facilities and feel confident in both technical analyses and practical issues.

You are computer literate and accustomed to working in systems for, for example, power control, maintenance, and economics. You are proficient in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

As a person

You work in a structured manner, take responsibility, and have a high awareness of safety. At the same time, you are solution-oriented and thrive in a daily routine where tasks vary and where you get to collaborate with many different competencies.

You are comfortable making technical decisions, highlighting risks, and contributing to improvements that strengthen operational safety, quality, and the work environment.

At Outokumpu, you get

  • A varied and technically challenging job in a modern industrial environment
