Many elderly people experience loneliness and miss someone to talk to, walk with, or do everyday activities with. That is why GOveteran is now looking for more care companions.

What does a Care Companion do?

As a care companion, you become an important part of someone else's daily life. You contribute with presence, companionship, and social stimulation. A care companion meets a client regularly for activities that the client desires.

This can include:

• Walking
• Chatting over a cup of coffee
• Companionship during activities
• Reading aloud
• Card games and board games
• Help with simple errands
• Accompanying to the doctor, hairdresser, or shop
• Cleaning / laundry (but not personal hygiene)
• Joint excursions

The most important thing is not what you do, but that the client receives social companionship and human contact.

Typical assignments involve 1–3 meetings per week, lasting 2–4 hours per session.

Previous experience from healthcare, social care, or social work is advantageous but not a requirement.
