Counselor for the Eating Disorders Unit in Östersund

The Eating Disorders Unit offers evidence-based specialized psychiatric care for adults with eating disorder issues, often in combination with comorbidity. We work in a multidisciplinary team and share responsibility for assessment, treatment, follow-up, and development of care. The treatment work is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy adapted for eating disorders (CBT-E) and can be supplemented with other evidence-based interventions based on the patient's needs.

We are in an exciting development phase. In connection with the planned move to new premises and co-location with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) eating disorders unit, we are developing collaboration, care chains, and teamwork regarding patients with eating disorders. Here, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of eating disorder care, together with engaged colleagues in a team where your curative and psychosocial competence is a vital part of the whole.

Psychiatry Area

The Psychiatry Area covers both outpatient and inpatient care and serves patients in Jämtland County who need specialized psychiatry. Within the psychiatric clinic at Östersund Hospital, several specialized psychiatric operations are gathered. This provides good conditions for close collaboration between units and professions, while also creating opportunities for internal mobility and personal development for you as an employee. In total, approximately 270 employees work within the area.

Do you want to become part of Region Jämtland Härjedalen, a region to look forward to and grow in? With us, you contribute to development and growth throughout the county and work to offer the best possible service, care, and support for everyone who lives in or visits the region.

We offer a work environment characterized by collaboration, participation, and engagement, where both breadth and specialized competence are valued. Here you have the opportunity to develop in your role, whether you are new to the profession or have long experience.

Responsibilities

As a counselor at the Eating Disorders Unit, you work in specialized psychiatric outpatient care with psychosocial and eating disorder-specific assessment, care planning, treatment, curative interventions, coordination, and follow-up. You meet adult patients with eating disorder issues and comorbidity and work in a team based on evidence-based practice, with CBT-E as the common treatment foundation. Interventions are given individually and in groups, physically and digitally. The work also includes enhanced outpatient care and collaboration with inpatient care, the BUP eating disorders unit, and other care providers.

You contribute with psychosocial and social legal competence in the team's assessment and treatment. The role includes curative interventions, support regarding the patient's social situation, network, and authority contacts, as well as participation in the unit's continued development.

Examples of tasks:

  • Psychosocial and eating disorder-specific assessment, care planning, and follow-up
  • Treatment interventions for patients with eating disorders, individually and in groups, with CBT-E as the common foundation in the team
  • Curative and psychosocial interventions, for example, supportive, motivational, and treatment-oriented conversations
  • Mapping of social situation, network, relatives, and need for coordinated interventions
  • Counseling and support in social and social legal matters
  • Collaboration with relatives, care partners, authorities, and other actors
  • Practical and treatment-oriented moments within enhanced outpatient care, for example, meal-related interventions
  • Teamwork, treatment conferences, documentation, and participation in quality and development work

Qualifications and Merits

We are looking for you who want to work with adult patients with eating disorder issues and comorbidity in specialized psychiatric outpatient care. The role suits you who want to combine curative and psychosocial interventions with assessment, treatment, coordination, and development work within a multidisciplinary team.

You are confident in your professional role, have good collaboration skills, and can meet patients in complex life situations. You have the ability to create trusting contacts with patients and relatives, work in a structured and independent manner, and actively contribute to the team's joint work. Great importance is attached to personal suitability.

Requirements

  • Social work degree, or alternatively another university education that the employer deems equivalent for the work
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
