Responsibilities

As a camp counselor at Udden, you are responsible for children aged 9–13. You plan, conduct, and lead activities for the participant group, contributing to creating a safe, fun, and meaningful stay for all children.

The camp operates around the clock, meaning you as a counselor share responsibility for the children's entire day – from morning until evening. The children live together in participant housing on the premises, while the counselors have separate staff housing. Although you do not share living quarters, you are close to each other during the days and available as needed. In this role, you must feel comfortable being away from home for at least six weeks.

Who are we looking for?

A key part of the assignment is to meet the participants' needs and act as a stable and guiding adult in their daily lives. You need to be confident in yourself and in your leadership role, able to set clear boundaries while building trusting relationships. The role also involves being able to discuss life issues and support the children in their personal development.

The work resembles the school world in many ways, where structure and clarity are combined with relationship-building to create a safe and inclusive environment.

Experience

We would like you to have a great interest in outdoor life or experience in outdoor pedagogy, as most of the activities are held outdoors. Experience working with children in middle school age is advantageous, as the assignment requires both clear boundary-setting and the ability to create safe relationships. If you have experience working in primary schools, you have good prerequisites for succeeding in the role.

During the summer, we conduct activities such as kayaking, raft building, climbing, swimming, and outdoor cooking. We also offer creative activities such as theater, dance, and singing. Disco, football tournaments, and theme days are also part of the program.

About the company

Utepedagogik Sverige AB runs summer camp and camp activities at various summer camps across Sweden for children and young people aged 9–16, with a focus on adventure. Our operations are focused on outdoor pedagogy. Employment conditions

The position is full-time. You must be able to attend our training days on-site at the summer camp in Värmland on May 1–4 and June 6–11. During the summer, you must be able to work, and thus be away from home for at least six weeks during the period June 12 – August 18.
