About the Workplace

This autumn, we are a school with approximately 410 students in grades F-8, with the lower secondary school (grades 7-9) being gradually expanded one grade at a time. The school is located right next to Edsviken and Ulriksdal Palace Park, meaning we are close to nature while being only 12 minutes by subway from central Stockholm.

At Bergshamraskolan, we actively work with structures and methods to create participation and inclusion in the school. We are a friendly school where we work together with colleagues in a pleasant environment.

Here, you will work alongside dedicated and knowledgeable colleagues who prioritize the students' well-being in our daily work. Together with the students, we have established the core values of Safety, Knowledge, and Community, which form the foundation of our daily work at the school.

What does the job involve?

The work is flexible based on the needs of the school and the students. As a social pedagogue here, you will be involved in the pedagogical work in the classroom, but you may also help one or a few students with schoolwork in a quieter location outside the classroom. The work is largely guided by the teacher's planning, but you must also be an independent person capable of leading tasks for one or a few students. You will also be present in corridors, break rooms, or wherever students are during breaks.

You will assist in complex student situations, communicating and working directly with students. A significant part of your workday will be spent with the students. You will work preventively and long-term through conversations and by building relationships.

The role also involves, in consultation with the school leadership and the Student Health Team (SHT), working with students who have problematic school absenteeism. Our goal is to jointly strengthen student attendance, goal achievement, and well-being in school.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

• A degree in social pedagogy or another equivalent education in behavioral science or social work
• Experience working with children and young people in need of special support in a school setting
• Fluent communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written

The following qualifications are considered meritorious:

• Experience in the role of social pedagogue or teaching assistant
• Knowledge of Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NPF) and school adaptations
• Experience with students having problematic school absenteeism and social issues

We are looking for someone who is calm and secure, serving as a good role model for our students. You are interested in driving the development of the school and the students forward. You are sensitive to the students' needs, clear, respectful, and able to capture students' attention while fostering participation and motivation.

You have a good ability to collaborate with others, including students, guardians, and colleagues. You plan, organize, and prioritize effectively.
