Job Description: Resource Pedagogue at Preschool

As a resource pedagogue, you participate in the daily operations at the preschool and work closely with the children's group. Your role is an asset to the entire group, and you do not function as a personal assistant to a single child unless otherwise specified. Together with your colleagues, you create a positive, meaningful, and developmental daily routine for every child and the entire group.

You are not always the one with primary responsibility for the child with special needs. Responsibility should rotate throughout the day to ensure a balanced care environment. For example, if a child becomes overwhelmed or emotional, it may be beneficial for another educator to step in and de-escalate the situation. This approach relieves the resource pedagogue and distributes care more evenly.

Your primary task is to provide the necessary support so that children with special needs have the right prerequisites to manage their day at the preschool despite their challenges. You may also work with the other children in the group, for instance, when the preschool teacher or another educator is working individually with the child who needs extra support.

As a resource pedagogue, you contribute to ensuring that education is equal for all children. You are engaged and actively participate in all preschool activities, both indoors and outdoors. It is important to maintain close dialogue between the responsible teacher, the resource pedagogue, and the parents/guardians.
