Social Worker for Housing Support Team in Botkyrka

The Social Services Department provides support to the residents of Botkyrka and is responsible for authority exercises, primarily in accordance with the Social Services Act. The support is for both the individual and their relatives. The Social Services Department has a special responsibility for children, young people, and adults in need of support according to social legislation. We are approximately 500 employees who, using strength-based working methods, provide support to the residents of Botkyrka in an equitable, fair, and secure manner.

The Position and Responsibilities

We are now looking for two social workers for our housing support team for a fixed-term appointment. In your role, you support adults with mental illness and/or harmful substance use in their daily lives to strengthen their independence. In this role, you work closely with the client in their daily life and home environment with the mission to strengthen the individual's ability to manage daily life independently.

You support the client in daily life by motivating and guiding them to create structure and sustainable routines. Together you plan the week, and you provide support with practical chores such as cleaning, laundry, and cooking. You also strengthen the client's ability to contact healthcare, authorities, and other actors, which contributes to increased independence and security in daily life.

Your main tasks are:

  • Building and maintaining safe relationships with clients.
  • Planning and following up on interventions together with the client.
  • Collaborating with other professions to create a holistic approach around the client.
  • Documenting interventions, creating, and following up on implementation plans.

The work requires a holistic view, and you collaborate closely with several actors to create long-term solutions. Through your mission, you are an important part of the municipality's development towards a more accessible and sustainable social services.

We Offer You

As an employee in the housing support team, you will have a meaningful and varied job where you make a difference in people's lives every day. You become part of an experienced and helpful housing support team consisting of 18 housing support workers, two housing support workers working with Housing First, two supervisors, and a unit manager. We have broad competence in areas such as addiction, crime, mental illness, and work with young people, which means we complement each other well and can match clients in a thoughtful and professional manner.

You have close access to both the manager and supervisors, and we value your ideas, experience, and suggestions as an important part of the development of the operations.

To ensure you feel secure in your role, we offer external supervision once a month and ongoing internal training that strengthens your competence in areas such as Signs of Safety, mental illness, motivational interviewing, and documentation. In addition to support in your professional practice, we also offer health-promoting activities such as football, yoga, and circuit training every other Tuesday and Thursday. The activities aim to strengthen community, create meaningful meetings between employees, and contribute to a sustainable working life.

You Who Apply to Us

You have an academic education in social work or behavioral science, for example, a social worker or behavioral scientist education. A two-year university college education in a corresponding area, such as social pedagogue or treatment pedagogue, also meets the requirement.

Other requirements:

  • Experience working with people with mental illness and/or harmful substance use within the Social Services Act (SoL).
  • Experience communicating professionally in Swedish, both orally and in writing, as the work involves documentation, administration, and contact with citizens.

Merits:

  • Previous work as a case manager.
  • Experience with the journal system Lifecare.
  • Experience with motivational interviewing, An Independent Life, and Signs of Safety.
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams and Outlook in daily work.

As a housing support worker, teamwork and relationship-building skills are crucial. You work trustfully and in close collaboration with the client and other professionals to create motivation and participation. By conveying calm, respect, and professionalism, you inspire change and strengthen the client's ability to create a functioning daily life and a more independent life.

You plan together with the client and adapt interventions based on their needs and work systematically to document and follow up in a careful manner.
