Are you a social worker and want to work with children, young people, and their families?
We are looking for a social secretary for our reception group – an engaged colleague who wants to contribute to further developing our work to ensure that children and young people live in a secure living situation.
About the role and the unit
In preparation for the transition to the new Social Services Act, we strengthened our reception group during 2024 to better meet future needs. The reception unit is part of the Children and Young People department, which has over 35 employees. Here, we handle standard reception tasks and work on developing a more accessible, preventive, and evidence-based social service. We are now looking for a new colleague who wants to drive this work forward together with us.
Tierp Municipality is conveniently located between Uppsala and Gävle, with close proximity to Stockholm, Arlanda, and the entire Mälardalen region. The area offers diverse living environments, nature, and culture at your doorstep, as well as excellent transport links by road, rail, and digitally.
Our values are important to us. We work based on respect, responsibility, customer focus, courage, and faith in the future. We apply trust-based leadership and governance to create strong relationships and trust between managers and employees.
What we offer
Among other things, you will be offered:
- An accessible and present leadership
- Regular supervision by a licensed psychotherapist
- Wellness allowance
- Holiday exchange
- Ongoing competence development
- Opportunities for remote work when needed
- Flexible working hours agreement
- Health-promoting activities through our "Positive Club"
We also offer a structured introduction plan with at least one introducer from the work group. Tierp Municipality participates in "Yrkesresan" in cooperation with other counties' municipalities, a long-term development program for social work.
Responsibilities
As a social secretary in the reception group, you will have a varied, developing, and meaningful job. You are often the first point of contact for children, young people, and their networks, playing a key role in providing advice, support, and guidance, as well as assessing children's needs for protection and support.
Your main tasks include processing reports and applications according to the Social Services Act, conducting protective and preliminary assessments, and staffing the unit's emergency telephone line according to a rotating schedule. You handle both acute situations requiring rapid assessments and more planned cases focusing on early support and preventive work.
The role also includes conducting fast-track investigations, where it is assessed that the case can be closed within 60 days and only a few areas need investigation. This working method has been developed to offer support faster and meet families' needs more effectively.
The reception unit also offers counseling and support conversations without needs testing through TUTI (Early Detection – Early Intervention). These conversations are part of the social services' preventive and crime-preventive work and are aimed at children and young people where there is concern regarding, for example, alcohol or drug use, norm-breaking behavior, or criminality.
A key part of the assignment is collaboration with preschools, schools, police, Barnahus (Children's Houses), healthcare, and other partners. You will also work closely with the municipality's school social teams and the SSPF collaboration to identify and support children and young people at risk early on. The reception unit also has close cooperation with outpatient care and other groups within the Children and Young People department.
We also conduct active outreach work through information meetings, workshops, and presence at arenas where children and young people gather. Here, you have the opportunity to combine authority duties with preventive work and early interventions, helping to shape the future of social services.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker and want to contribute to good encounters with children, young people, and their families. You have a genuine interest in social work and are driven by creating security, participation, and positive changes in people's lives.
It is an advantage if you have experience with authority duties within children and young people, as well as experience in collaboration with other actors and preventive work. Experience in early interventions, counseling, or crime prevention work with children and young people is also considered an advantage.
To thrive here, you need to appreciate a varied job where days rarely look the same. You have the ability to make professional assessments in acute situations while seeing the value of early interventions, preventive work, and building trusting relationships. You can organize, prioritize, and limit your tasks and feel confident making decisions even when conditions change rapidly.
We are looking for someone who is engaged, proactive, and solution-focused. You collaborate easily, communicate clearly and respectfully, and contribute to a good reception when meeting children, families, and partners. Since the assignment involves close collaboration with schools, police, healthcare, and other actors, it is important that you have good communication skills and the ability to create and maintain good relationships.
As a person, you are secure, stable, and flexible. You thrive in a operation where the pace is sometimes high and where you need to switch between different tasks during the day. You contribute to a good work climate, are unpretentious, and see the value of developing together with your colleagues.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
A valid driver's license (Category B) is required.
