The Department of Political Science is an international academic environment that welcomes students, researchers, and staff from around the world. Our research covers topics such as political institutions, elections, public opinion, and democracy, international and European politics, environmental policy, corruption, and political ideas. We organize numerous research seminars and workshops annually within the department's various research areas. We offer education at all levels in both Swedish and English. In total, approximately 1,400 people study with us, and we have around 170 employees.

The Department of Political Science is now seeking a Research Assistant for the research project Diaspora Groups and Foreign Policy: A Comparative Analysis.

The position is a fixed-term full-time appointment for 11 months.

Responsibilities

As a Research Assistant, your main tasks will consist of data collection, analysis of textual material, data compilation, and data coding. Other tasks may arise depending on the project's needs, such as presenting and writing reports describing the data material you have collected.

You will be part of the department's research support team, which consists of approximately twenty people contributing to the department's various research projects. The research support team holds regular short meetings.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have at least a Bachelor's degree in Political Science or a related field deemed relevant by the employer.

The work is performed to a high degree independently, requiring good organizational skills, initiative, and problem-solving abilities. You also possess strong communication and collaboration skills. You will have continuous check-ins with the researchers within the project.

The work requires good and documented knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methods and data management, as well as experience with the use of Large Language Models (LLMs). Knowledge of how to use word processing programs and spreadsheets is required.

Very good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written, are required. Knowledge of French is an asset.

Previous experience working with qualified research support in a similar environment, at a university or in a larger research program, is an asset.

Employment

The employment is a special fixed-term appointment, limited to 11 months with a scope of full-time (100%) located at the Department of Political Science.

Start date: October 1, 2026, or as agreed.
