Gävle District Court is a medium-sized court covering the municipalities of Gävle, Sandviken, Hofors, and Ockelbo. We have a total of approximately 45 employees.

The District Court falls under the jurisdiction of the Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland. We handle civil cases, criminal cases, bankruptcy matters, and other cases, deciding on just over 5,000 cases and matters annually.

The District Court is centrally located within walking and cycling distance to public transport, shops, and restaurants. There are good transport links by train or car to and from Gävle, and it is quick to reach Arlanda Airport.

The Gävle region offers, among other things, long beaches by the sea, skiing in Kungsberget, Boulognerskogen – a city park in central Gävle offering cafes, a bathing beach, fitness trails, etc. There is also the opportunity to watch high-level ice hockey.

The work as a judge is stimulating and places high demands on independence and integrity, as well as the ability to collaborate and consider the best interests of the entire District Court.

We are looking for someone who wants to try out varied and independent legal work and who may wish to apply for a permanent judge position in the future.

The District Court works digitally with the processing of cases and matters, and opportunities to work from home are provided when necessary.

The employment is a fixed-term position for 6 months or longer.

Qualifications

As a person, you are goal-oriented and team-oriented. You should be a skilled and analytically minded lawyer. Although the judge has an independent role in decision-making, work at Gävle District Court is part of a team effort. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.

To be eligible, you must be or have been a permanent judge, be or have been a judicial trainee (fiscal) in the Court of Appeal or Administrative Court, or have performed the duties of a Court of Appeal or Administrative Court trainee for at least six months.
