Professional Guardian for the Administration Unit in Södertälje

The Administration Unit in Södertälje is tasked with representing individuals who lack the capacity to safeguard their own interests. The unit is therefore recruiting guardians to handle often complex cases. As support in this role, there are managers and team leaders whom the guardians can turn to for guidance and advice.

The purpose of the Administration Unit's operations is to ensure that citizens with the greatest need for guardianship receive the help they are entitled to. Voluntary guardians and administrators continue to constitute the majority of the mandate holders in the municipality.

The Administration Unit's operations are primarily regulated by the provisions of the Parental Code. The unit works on behalf of the Over Guardianship Board, which is responsible for investigating the need for guardians for principals with, for example, severe mental disability, psychotic illness, addiction, or similar conditions. The appointment as a guardian is personal and also applies to employed guardians.

The Administration Unit is organizationally placed within the Culture and Leisure Department.

Your Responsibilities

The mandates to the Administration Unit come from the Over Guardianship Board, which has assessed and decided on the individual's need for guardianship. The role of an employed guardian involves protecting rights, administering property, and caring for the person. The duties include, among other things, contacting authorities, paying bills, reporting on the principal's finances, and safeguarding the principal's interests in various contexts.

The daily work mainly consists of:

  • representing the principal before authorities and courts,
  • maintaining ongoing contact with the principal and their network, such as housing staff,
  • protecting rights and obligations in accordance with current legislation,
  • applying for benefits and allowances to which the principal is entitled, such as financial assistance,
  • responsible for documentation and financial reporting of the principal's assets.

The Administration Unit works in teams where employees, based on competence and experience, jointly support individuals with complex and multifaceted problems. At the same time, the role requires the ability to work independently and make own decisions. The position entails significant responsibility, where the guardian is responsible for safeguarding the principals' interests in legal and financial matters, such as property sales, entering into financial agreements, or estate settlements.

Who are you?

Requirements:

  • University-level education, e.g., social worker, behavioral science, social science, or other education that, in combination with relevant experience, is assessed as equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of public administration and the Swedish legal system.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting.
  • Very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
  • Category B driver's license.

Merits:

  • Previous experience as an administrator or guardian.
  • Knowledge of the Over Guardianship Board's responsibilities and tasks.
  • Experience in low-affective handling and motivational interviewing.
  • Knowledge of languages other than Swedish, preferably Arabic.

Personal qualities:

The role of guardian requires good ability to handle both large and small private economies, as well as a structured work approach with high accuracy in financial reporting. Since the guardian makes decisions for individuals who lack the capacity to do so themselves, personal stability, good judgment, and a respectful and humble approach towards the municipality's citizens are required.

The work involves contact with people in different life situations, which requires good cooperation skills, flexibility, and the ability to adapt working methods to the individual's needs. The position also requires stress tolerance and experience working in different environments and with varying tasks.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
