We are now looking for a Laboratory Engineer who wants to help shape the future of patient-near analysis in Värmland.
Your Workplace
Clinical Chemistry at the Central Hospital is part of Laboratory Medicine Värmland. Within Laboratory Medicine, there are four specialties: Clinical Chemistry, Transfusion Medicine, Clinical Pathology, and Clinical Microbiology, where the latter two are only located at the Central Hospital in Karlstad. Laboratory Medicine is divided into eight units located at three hospitals, 23 health centers, and GeBlod Karlstad. Laboratory Medicine is accredited according to ISO 15189.
At the Clinical Chemistry unit at the Central Hospital, approximately 70 employees work in a 24/7 operation. At Clinical Chemistry, the Patient-Near Analysis Administration (PNA Administration) is currently being established. This is a new and exciting initiative where we develop and quality-assure patient-near analyses to ensure fast and reliable test results in healthcare. Here, you will work in a dynamic environment with close collaboration across operational boundaries and the opportunity to influence how the PNA activity grows.
Your Responsibilities
As a Laboratory Engineer within the PNA Administration, you will play a central role in developing and driving the activity forward. Your responsibilities include:
- Service and support of PNA instruments, including contact with suppliers and technical problem-solving.
- Administration of IT systems used within PNA, with close collaboration with other system administrators.
- Development of the PNA activity, harmonizing and creating new routines, and implementing them.
- Training of healthcare staff in the handling of PNA instruments and analysis methods.

Your Knowledge and Competencies
We are looking for you who are a University Engineer or have technical competence and experience assessed as equivalent by the employer. To thrive and succeed in the role, it is important that you:
- Have merits in technical areas, where experience in laboratory technology is advantageous.
- Have merits in IT system support and preferably experience in system administration.
- Are service-oriented and solution-focused, with the ability to identify and remedy problems.
- Have good communication skills and enjoy training and supporting colleagues and healthcare staff.
- Are meticulous, structured, and responsible.
- Have analytical skills and a quality-conscious approach.
- Are flexible and thrive in a changing environment where new challenges constantly arise.

It is meritorious if you have experience working with development and administration within laboratory medicine.
