We are now looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer for our Test Development section in Arboga!

Within the Test Development department, we develop, commission, and support a wide range of test equipment for both military and civilian use. Here, you will be a valuable asset to our team by acting as a technical sounding board and being creative in exploring opportunities in new working methods and structures.

Your Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer with us, you will be part of the entire development process, from concept design to the creation of the final product. This includes, among other things, product improvement, lifecycle management, and communication with suppliers and internal/external customers. Furthermore, the role involves close collaboration with our local prototype department, as well as revision and documentation management in the company's PDM system.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Support for the prototype department during construction.
• Create assembly and detailed designs within our product segment. This mainly involves creating products and designs, both in the PDM system and in a CAD environment.
• Product improvements and modifications of existing designs.
• Support and contribute to our improvement work regarding method, product, and process development. This may involve refining our development process, writing instructions, creating checklists, and looking at new technical solutions regarding design or manufacturing.
• At need, support our sales/pre-study organization in analyzing and determining at an early stage how a design can look in relation to customer requirements.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who have documented experience in mechanical design. You have a technical background from high school, college, university, or other suitable experience in the field.

As a person, you need to be driven, communicative, curious, and unpretentious. The role implies that you can make your own decisions and take responsibility for what is to be delivered. We also see that you are a technology-interested and social person who likes to solve problems and work in a team with other colleagues. The role involves close collaboration with other disciplines, such as electrical, electronics, measurement technology, and software.

To succeed in the role:

• Experience in mechanical design
• CAD modeling
• Drawing creation
• IFS

It is an advantage if you also have experience with:

• Autodesk (Vault, Inventor, AutoCAD)
• Electrical design (cabling and electrical schematics)
• Altium Designer
• Experience from the defense/aviation industry

The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to current regulations for security clearance. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.

Travel may occur in this role. Primarily within Sweden, but also abroad.

Please note that the selection process will take place during the summer, and we plan to maintain ongoing contact with candidates before the holiday. Interviews are expected to be conducted in August.
